Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineer to join our Database Engineering team, with a primary focus on PostgreSQL, while also supporting Oracle environments. This role involves acting as a subject matter expert for PostgreSQL operations, including performance tuning and troubleshooting. The engineer will design and implement robust backup and disaster recovery strategies, collaborate with DevOps teams for automation, and partner with application teams for schema changes and query optimization. This position contributes to database modernization, ensures compliance, and provides mentorship.
Must have:
  • Act as a subject matter expert for PostgreSQL database operations
  • Support Oracle database activities such as patching, upgrades, and migrations
  • Design and implement robust backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to automate database operations
  • Partner with application teams to support schema changes, query optimization, and deployment processes
  • Contribute to the strategic roadmap for database modernization
  • Ensure compliance with security, audit, and data governance requirements
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers
Good to have:
  • 6+ years of experience in database engineering, with demonstrated expertise in PostgreSQL
  • Solid understanding of PostgreSQL internals, performance tuning, and high-availability configurations
  • Experience supporting Oracle databases in enterprise environments
  • Strong SQL and scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, or Perl)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) and monitoring solutions
  • Comfortable working in a Kanban/SAFe Agile environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • PostgreSQL certification or equivalent experience preferred
  • Oracle certifications are a plus

  • Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to automate database operations and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Partner with application teams to support schema changes, query optimization, and deployment processes.
  • Contribute to the strategic roadmap for database modernization, with a focus on PostgreSQL adoption.
  • Ensure compliance with security, audit, and data governance requirements.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.

Impact You'll Make:

This job is assigned as On-Site Essential and requires in- person work at an assigned TU office location as a condition of employment.
