Job Description

The Senior Manager of Engineering and Operations is responsible for the effective and efficient management of IT Infrastructure systems and operations globally. This role involves optimizing existing on-premises infrastructure and developing a global cloud-focused infrastructure for expansion. The candidate will lead teams, prioritize tasks, ensure environment stability, and develop global monitoring systems. They will also manage ITSM, define SLAs, establish KPIs, and provide support for AI technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Must have:
  • Lead team of Engineers, Systems Administrators, and Support Team members.
  • Design, build, and support global Infrastructure resources (On-Prem, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring projects stay on-track using Agile methodology.
  • Prioritize tasks, projects, and support consistent with personal and departmental goals.
  • Provide support for internal incidents or cross-functional support.
  • Define and report on KPIs and SLAs, adjusting to keep them achievable.
  • Provide quarterly reports on system availability and uptime.
  • Be proactive in responding to system events, closing gaps in procedures and policies.
  • Provide KPIs to ensure appropriate staffing levels and equitable workloads.
  • Provide Engineering leadership support for other cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to departmental strategies aligned with overall Technology Strategy.
  • Ensure effective Disaster Recovery and Backup strategies for business continuity.
  • Provide leadership and support during systems outages or major incidents.
  • Provide post-mortem support to determine root cause of service interruptions.
  • Maintain current and consistent system documentation and configuration details.
  • Provide leadership to ensure escalations are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Lead continual improvement programs for operations procedures and ticket handling.
  • Maintain security and compliance standards, remediating gaps and improving processes.
  • Provide budgetary oversight for equipment, software, and cloud-infra spend.
  • Work with other leaders to provide training and development of team members.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, consultants, and contractors.
  • Support the development of RFPs and SOWs to ensure technical requirements are correct.
  • Continually review new technologies, conduct pilots, and evaluate multiple vendors.
  • Ensure the team uses industry-defined “Best-Practices” and follows change management policies.

The Senior Manager of Engineering and Operations is responsible for the effective and efficient management of IT Infrastructure systems and operations, globally. This position will lead the team to optimize Funko’s existing on-premises infrastructure while developing, designing and deploying a more Global Cloud-Focused infrastructure to allow for global expansion. Candidate must have previous success in leading teams with operational readiness with focus on Optimization and Automation. This individual will have a diversified background technical infrastructure experience, demonstrated project management acumen, and excellent vendor management skills. This candidate will make team development, skills improvement, and career advancement a priority for the Engineering Team. This leadership role also plays a key role in provide support AI Technologies and utilizing them to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Candidate will manage and support the Operations team to maintain the service-focused management style that team has created and maintained. In this role, the candidate, will leading the Global Operations teams in US, EMEA, and Asia. This includes managing all aspect of ITSM and Service Desk management. The candidate will redefine SLAs and establish new KPIs to advise leadership on Service Quality and develop forecasts for resource planning.

The Sr. Manager candidate will prioritize tasks and projects while ensuring the stability of the environment. The individual will continue to develop global monitoring, alerting, and maintenance systems to improve visibility to infrastructure health. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional leadership to craft the global infrastructure strategy and lead successful execution. The individual will help their team grow their technical abilities and experience, to ensure the cross-functional redundancy within the team.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead team of Engineers and Systems Administrators, and Support Team members providing managerial support and guidance to ensure operational readiness and systems availability
  • Design, build and support global Infrastructure resources; including On-Prem, SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS platforms and systems
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Engineering team ensure projects and tasks stay on-track, participate in Agile working methodology
  • Prioritize tasks, projects, and support to ensure balance is consistent with personal and departmental goals.
  • Lead team to provide support for internal incidents or cross-functional support - maintaining a level of support that is performative and consistent.
  • Define and Report on KPIs and SLAs, adjust to keep them achievable and sustainable
  • Provide quarterly reports on system availability and uptime, keeping leadership aware of future platform needs and changes to improve
  • Be proactive in responding to system events working to close gaps in procedures and policies, where observed
  • Provide KPIs to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained and workloads are equitable and achievable
  • Provide Engineering leadership support for other cross-functional teams within the Technology organization to meet the global Technology team’s objectives
  • Contribute to the development of departmental strategies to align with the overall Technology Strategy
  • Ensure effective Disaster Recovery and Backup strategies are defined and achievable and the maximum amount of business continuity is maintained
  • Leadership and support in the event of a systems outage or major incident
  • Provide post-mortem support to determine the root cause of service interruptions and make recommendations on changes needed to prevent a recurrence
  • Maintain system documentation and configuration details to ensure they are current and consistent with defined standards
  • Provide leadership to ensure escalations are handled efficiently and effectively, providing documentation and make changes in order to reduce repeat occurrences
  • Lead continual improvement programs for operations procedures and ticket handling, allowing the team to be more efficient and successful
  • Maintain security and compliance standards defined, remediating gaps and improve processes as needed
  • Provide budgetary oversight for equipment, software, cloud-infra spend, performing periodic analysis on equipment refreshes and platform optimization
  • Work with other leaders to provide training and development of team members
  • Manage relationships with vendors, consultants, contractors to ensure Funko goals and strategy are maintained
  • Support the development of RFPs and SOWs to ensure technical requirements are correct and scope is accurate
  • Continually review new technologies, document findings, conduct pilots and evaluate multiple vendors, make recommendations, and develop business cases to justify the investment
  • Ensure the team is using industry-defined “Best-Practices” and following Funko’s change management policies and procedures

What You’ll Bring

  • 3 Years of Management Experience in IT Infra – Engineering or Operations (Required)
  • 5 + Years of Managerial Experience (Preferred)
  • 3 + Years of Global Team Management Experience (Preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/information technology or equivalent preferred
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Virtualization Platforms, Storage Systems, Windows Servers, Active Directory, Network Technologies, Identity Management
  • Must have hands-on experience designing and managing SaaS, PaaS, IaaS environments and providing support for PaaS services including M365, Azure, and AWS
  • Must be a champion for pushing IT automation, standards, procedures, policies, and best practices to the infrastructure team
  • Must have proven leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor staff
  • Must have proven experience or demonstrated capability in leading IT infrastructure groups in complex and dynamic environments
  • Must have excellent business acumen and have the ability to interact and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Must be very proactive in understanding and staying up-to-date on the current projects in progress, projects in pipeline and operational issues. Similarly, must stay up-to-date with industry technology trends and applicability of software/hardware solutions
  • Previous Compliance experience (SOX, PCI, GDPR, and others) preferred
  • Certifications in ITSM and ITIL methodologies preferred

Salary Information

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $131,250 - 175,000 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
