Job Summary
As a Site Reliability Engineer in the Core Services team, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of Apple's Backbone Network including hardware, software and our toolset used to configure/monitor the environment while adhering to DevOps best practices. You will collaborate with development teams, implement observability, troubleshoot incidents, and promote a DevOps culture to improve release velocity and reduce failures for critical Apple services like iCloud, iTunes, Siri, and Maps.
Must Have
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of applications, networking platforms, APIs, and integrations.
- Collaborate with development team to design resilient hosting architectures and streamline CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement observability/monitoring best practices: transaction tracing, logging, metrics, and alerting for apps and network devices.
- Troubleshoot incidents (VM/hosting issues, API failures, authentication, monitoring/alerting failures).
- Promote DevOps culture to improve release velocity and reduce failures.
- 3+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Software Engineering.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming (Python, Bash, Go, Java, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools (Splunk, AppDynamics, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Proficient in Linux, Networking concepts (TLS/SSL, DNS, Load Balancers, etc.) and troubleshooting in large scale environments.
Good to Have
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for Teamcenter environments.
- Hands-on experience in one or more databases (Relational / NoSQL like Oracle, MongoDB).
- Exposure to event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Experience with security and authentication (OAuth, SAML, SSO).
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent years of work experience.

The Apple Networking team builds software-defined cloud network infrastructure as a part of Apple Cloud. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
