Job Summary
Bento Box Entertainment is seeking an experienced Storyboard Artist for a successful primetime animated series. The role involves creating storyboards that combine adult comedy, musical foundations, dark horror, and emotional storytelling. Artists should excel in character performance, cinematic staging, dynamic action, and musical sequences, translating scripts into compelling visual narratives.
Must Have
- Create storyboards conveying structure, composition, acting, and pacing.
- Interpret scripts and Director’s thumbnails into compelling sequences.
- Develop sequences to communicate emotion, performance, action, and storytelling.
- Ensure technical aspects like camera angles and transitions are accurate.
- Revise storyboards based on feedback from directors, creators, and executives.
- Maintain alignment with provided references and design assumptions.
- Report daily to the Storyboard Director for assignments and notes.
- Work closely with the Storyboard Supervisor and team to meet deadlines.
- 3+ years experience storyboarding in episodic series animation, preferably comedy.
- Strong proficiency in Storyboard Pro.
- Comfortable working digitally on a Cintiq.

Storyboard Artist
Reports to: Storyboard Directors and Producer
Bento Box is looking for experienced Storyboard Artists for a very successful animated series that combines adult comedy with strong musical foundations, layered with dark horror elements and emotional storytelling. The show mixes sharp humor with sincere human drama, creating a bold and original viewing experience.
We’re seeking storyboard artists with strengths in the following areas:
- Character-focused artists – Skilled in emotionally grounded, naturalistic character acting and able to create believable performances that complement strong voice work
- Cinematic and dramatic staging artists – Capable of crafting atmospheric, large-scale compositions with a strong sense of tone, tension, and visual storytelling
- Action sequence artists – Experienced in choreographing dynamic, fast-paced action with strong pacing and visual rhythm
- Musical sequence artists – Energetic and expressive, with a flair for stylized musical storytelling and strong timing to support musical beats
Responsibilities:
- Create storyboards that convey story structure, cinematic composition, character acting, and pacing
- Read and interpret scripts and be familiar with story, tone, jokes and characters
- Interpret scripts and Director’s thumbnails to understand the narrative and translate them into clear, compelling sequences
- Develop and sketch sequences to communicate emotion, performance, action, and storytelling beats
- Ensure technical aspects of the storyboard, such as camera angles and transitions, are accurately depicted
- Revise or refine storyboards based on feedback from the storyboard director, creators and executives
- Consider references and design assumptions provided and maintain alignment with them
- Report to the Storyboard Director daily for assignment direction and notes
- Work closely with the Storyboard Supervisor and team to meet deadlines while maintaining quality
- Willing to be amenable with working hours to accommodate the different timezones that you will be working alongside
Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience storyboarding in episodic series animation, preferably in comedy
- Strengths in character performance, cinematic staging, dynamic action and expressive music sequences
- A strong portfolio of work demonstrating technical accuracy and proficiency.
- Strong proficiency in Storyboard Pro
- Comfortable working digitally on a Cintiq
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must be able to adapt to changes easily within a highly dynamic environment
- Strong attention to detail is critical
- Ability to work within a team-oriented environment
- Ability to adapt quickly and work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced production environment
