Job Summary
Join the EA SPORTS FC team as a Cinematic Animator, contributing to the world's #1 best-selling video game. This role involves key-framing characters to a high standard and collaborating with the Cinematics Team to deliver quality animated performances. You will assemble motion capture, polish facial and body animation, and test in-game, working with artists and engineers to solve technical challenges. The position requires an experienced CG character animator with strong 3D animation software knowledge and a keen eye for cinematics.
Must Have
- Work closely with the Director to understand the vision for cinematics
- Assemble Motion Capture character performances with all necessary props
- Work with artists, technical artists/animators, providing feedback on rigs and tools
- Polish key frame face/body animation for Cinematic scenes and test in game engine
- Manage and solve technical problems with 1st and 3rd party tools and software
- Experienced CG character animator
- Minimum 3 years work experience
- Possess excellent character animation skills
- Experience working with advanced facial animation rigs
- Experience animating cameras and a good eye for cinematics
- Experience creating animation passes from initial previz and blocking to polished sequences
- Strong working knowledge of a 3D animation package (Maya, XSI etc.)
- Ability to work under tight deadlines

- Familiarity with Autodesk’s Motionbuilder
- Experience working in gaming

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to key-frame characters to a very high standard. You will work closely with the Cinematics Team to help bring quality animated performances to the game.
Your Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Director to understand the vision for the cinematics
- Assemble Motion Capture character performances together with all the props necessary to realize the cinematics
- Work with artists, technical artists/animators - providing feedback on rigs and tools
- Provide feedback to other animators on the team (both internally and externally) – where necessary
- Polish key frame face / body animation for Cinematic scenes and test in game engine
- Work with Technical Artist’s/Animator’s and Engineers to manage and solve any technical problems that arise with both 1st and 3rd party tools and software
Your Qualifications
- Experienced CG character animator required
- Minimum 3 years work experience
- Must possess excellent character animation skills
- Experience working with advanced facial animation rigs
- Must have experience animating cameras, and a good eye for cinematics
- Experience creating the various passes needed to take animations from initial previz and blocking, all the way through to fully realized, highly polished sequences
- Must have strong working knowledge of a 3D animation package (Maya, XSI etc.)
- Familiarity with Autodesk’s Motionbuilder preferred but not essential
- Must have ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Experience working in gaming preferred but not essential
- Experience working with, and providing feedback to both artists and technical artists/animators

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES
- British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$75,900 - $105,600 CAD
