Arηs, an independent IT group, is seeking a Data Centre Infrastructure Systems Engineer for its Greek entity. The role involves full operational and physical upkeep of the client's Data Centre, managing VMware virtualisation, Windows, and Linux systems, and supporting storage, backup solutions, and domain name services. The engineer will provide expert RHEL support, manage DNS infrastructure, administer VMware vSphere, and ensure data centre security. Collaboration with IMT colleagues is key to optimising the Hybrid Data Centre.
Good To Have:
  • Basic knowledge of French.
  • Relevant Microsoft/Linux/VMware certifications.
  • Experience with containers or Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Practical experience updating Dell server firmware (BIOS, RAID, NICs).
  • Strong documentation habits (systems, processes, configurations).
Must Have:
  • Provide expert-level support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Design, develop, and automate VM provisioning and deployment processes.
  • Manage and secure chrooted BIND DNS servers.
  • Administer VMware vSphere 8 farm via vCenter and Aria Operations.
  • Manage DELL PowerStore 3200T iSCSI shared storage.
  • Operate DELL PowerProtect (PPDM) Backup and DataDomain systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues; liaise with vendors.
  • Implement strict security protocols across the data centre.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written).

The Data Centre Infrastructure Systems Engineer is responsible for the full operational and physical upkeep of the client's Data Centre. The role includes managing VMware virtualisation, Windows, and Linux systems, as well as supporting and maintaining all storage, backup solutions, and domain name services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Linux Systems Administration & Automation
  • Provide expert-level support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Design, develop, and automate VM provisioning and deployment processes.
  • Perform upgrades, patching, and scripting to enhance efficiency.
  • DNS Infrastructure Management
  • Manage and secure chrooted BIND DNS servers.
  • Optimise and document DNS management procedures.
  • Data Centre Operations & Virtualisation
  • Administer VMware vSphere 8 farm via vCenter and Aria Operations.
  • Manage DELL PowerStore 3200T iSCSI shared storage.
  • Operate DELL PowerProtect (PPDM) Backup and DataDomain systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues; liaise with vendors.
  • Implement strict security protocols across the data centre.
  • General Operations & Collaboration
  • Work closely with IMT colleagues to optimise the Hybrid Data Centre.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned to support the team’s success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS.
  • Experience managing BIND DNS.
  • Experience managing VMware vSphere.
  • Experience implementing iSCSI and other network protocols.
  • Proven experience with PowerStore storage.
  • Experience with enterprise backup systems (PPDM, DataDomain).
  • Advanced Linux system administration and automation (Ansible, scripting).
  • DNS management and security (BIND, DNSSEC, zone transfers).
  • Strong expertise in VMware ESXi & vCenter (installation, configuration, troubleshooting).
  • Proficiency with iSCSI network configuration and Dell EMC PowerStore arrays.
  • Hardware troubleshooting and vendor collaboration skills.
  • Ability to implement and enforce security best practices in a data centre.
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
  • Basic knowledge of French (desirable).
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with MS SharePoint and Visio.

Desirable

  • Relevant Microsoft/Linux/VMware certifications.
  • Experience with containers or Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Practical experience updating Dell server firmware (BIOS, RAID, NICs).
