Job Description

The Systems Product Engineer at Cadence provides critical technical support to the Field Service Engineering (FSE) team and customers, both remotely and internally. This role involves troubleshooting complex system issues, analyzing logs, developing support tools, and translating field problems into engineering solutions. The engineer will also prioritize issues for R&D, evaluate solutions, and create implementation procedures, ensuring efficient resolution of customer challenges and continuous improvement of products.
Must have:
  • Provide first line support for FSE team
  • Support FSEs with remote customer support
  • Analyze system logs for troubleshooting
  • Provide scripts and tools to FSEs
  • Be the conduit for releasing new procedures
  • Provide real time support for FSEs
  • Summarize customer/field issues for engineering
  • Prioritize field issues for PE/R&D
  • Evaluate PE/R&D solutions and create field procedures
  • 3+ years in Product Implementation and Systems Product Engineering
  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience debugging network hardware/configuration
  • Experience with high density Optical/Network test processes
  • Experience with Hot Swap products
  • Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Linux
Good to have:
  • Previous experience with optical circuits
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, test flows and new product introduction

Job Details

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Outward facing support:
  • Provide first line support for the FSE team in solving issues not easily resolved at the FSE level.
  • Support Field Service Team members by providing remote customer support through remote tools (Zoom, Teams)
  • Analyze system logs to remotely help FSE troubleshoot customer system issues.
  • Provide scripts and other tools to aid the FSE’s in the field.
  • Be the conduit for releasing new procedures to the field.
  • Provide real time support for FSE’s aligned to the appropriate supported locations time zone.
  • Inward facing support:
  • Summarize and condense customer and field issues into engineering problem sets for the PE’s/R&D to solve.
  • Review field issues and prioritize issues so that PE and R&D are focused on finding solutions for the most important customer issues.
  • Help with evaluating PE and R&D solutions to field problems and create procedures for field implementation.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years working in the areas of Product Implementation and Systems Product Engineering.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • SSE for US will be located in US.
  • Previous experience with optical circuits is desirable
  • Previous experience with debugging of network hardware and configuration issues
  • Previous experience with high density Optical and Network test processes.
  • Previous experience with Hot Swap products using electrical, power, optical and liquid cooling backplanes.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, test flows and new product introduction is desirable.
  • Computer skills to include: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & understanding of Linux

The annual salary range for California is $114,800 to $213,200. You may also be eligible to receive incentive compensation: bonus, equity, and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the salary range is a guideline and compensation may vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
