Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Artist to temporarily join our Tech Art team, focusing on WWE Superstars and user creations. This role involves working with Cloth and Hair Simulation systems, creating and maintaining rigs for characters, clothing, and accessories. Responsibilities include setting up simulations in Maya, assigning Color Per Vertex (CPV) coloring, exporting assets to the game, and troubleshooting technical issues related to skinning and simulation. The artist will become proficient with existing toolsets and ensure timely delivery of assets.
Must have:
  • Create and maintain rigs and simulation for characters, clothing and accessories
  • Setup Cloth and Hair Simulation in Maya using proprietary tools
  • Assign and Edit Color Per Vertex (CPV) coloring for simulation
  • Export Assets to the game and ensure quality requirements are met
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to skinning and simulation
  • Become a proficient user of the existing toolset
  • Meet delivery deadlines under production constraints
  • 2-4 years of experience within the field
  • Efficient in Maya
  • Experience with Color Per Vertex coloring
  • Clear understanding of anatomy, kinematics, deformation and physics
  • Understanding of game engine limitations
  • Self-starter with willingness to learn and grow
  • Strong time and project management, good team player, good work ethics
  • Basic understanding of Version Control system (Perforce)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Love and passion for video games
Good to have:
  • Video games industry experience and/or gaming familiarity
  • Experience with cloth and rigid/soft body physics setup
  • Experience with JIRA and Flow Production Tracker

We are looking for a Technical Artist to join our Tech Art team temporarily, working on an enormous roster of WWE Superstars, supporting characters and player creations. You will work on Cloth and Hair Simulation and systems supporting original user creations.

WWE 2K is an exciting and challenging game franchise with a diverse set of features and requirements. What You Will Do:

  • Create and maintain rigs and simulation for characters, clothing and accessories
  • Setup Cloth and Hair Simulation in Maya using our proprietary tools
  • Assign and Edit Color Per Vertex (CPV) coloring, used in our Simulation system
  • Export Assets to the game and ensure they meet quality requirements

Who Will Be A Great Fit:

  • 2-4 years of experience within the field
  • Efficient in Maya
  • Experience with Color Per Vertex coloring, including assigning and manipulating vertex color data for use in simulation
  • Clear understanding of anatomy, kinematics, deformation and physics
  • Understanding of game engine limitations
  • Must be a self-starter with a willingness to learn and grow, and take directions well
  • Possess strong time and project management, be a good team player, and have good work ethics
  • Basic understanding of Version Control system (Perforce)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Love and passion for video games (not just ours!)

Might Be Nice:

  • Video games industry experience and/or gaming familiarity
  • Experience with cloth and rigid/soft body physics setup

This is a fully remote role that may be based anywhere in the United States. Below are the expected wage ranges for applicants based in locations where the pay transparency law is in effect: California: $41.00 - $58.00 per hour. New York State (inclusive of New York City): $37.00 - $52.00 per hour. Washington: $41.00 - 58.00 per hour. New Jersey: $37.00 - 52.00 per hour. British Columbia: 34.00 - 48.00 (CAD) per hour. Base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
