Job Summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead Reference Data initiatives, specifically focusing on Golden Source systems within financial services. The role involves end-to-end project management, collaborating with various stakeholders, coordinating technical activities related to data modeling and quality, and overseeing the migration and enhancement of Golden Source platforms. The manager will ensure timely delivery, manage risks, and adhere to data governance standards, driving continuous improvement in data solutions.

Must Have

  • Lead end-to-end project management for Reference Data and Golden Source initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across data governance, IT, operations, and business teams to gather requirements and define project scope.
  • Coordinate technical activities related to data modeling, data quality, data lineage, and master data management.
  • Oversee the migration, integration, and enhancements of Golden Source systems.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies proactively.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance standards and best practices within project deliverables.
  • Facilitate communication between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and technical solutions related to reference data.
  • Support audit and regulatory requirements concerning master data.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience, ideally within capital markets or financial institutions.
  • Strong understanding of Reference Data concepts, data governance, and data quality frameworks.
  • Proven experience in managing technology projects related to trading platforms, risk systems, or data warehouses.
  • Familiarity with capital markets products (equities, fixed income, derivatives, forex, etc.).
  • Experience with data management tools, ETL processes, and data integration platforms.
  • 3+ years working with reference-data domains in trading, risk or back-office functions.
  • Strong understanding of Securities data feed from Bloomberg, LSEG (Reuters).
  • Strong understanding of various Asset classes and important attributes associated with each asset classes.
  • Good understanding of instrument identifiers (ISIN, CUSIP, FIGI, RIC), entity identifiers (LEI) and product taxonomy.
  • Proficient in SQL and relational data-modeling concepts.
  • Familiarity with using APIs and JSON, XML structures.
  • Familiarity with MDM and data-governance platforms (e.g. Collibra, DataHub) and metadata-management best practices.
  • Excellent Excel skills to perform various data analysis, triage recons and build summaries.

Good to Have

  • PMP, PMI-ACP, Agile, or other relevant project management certifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and related data services.
  • Exposure to financial services or trading environment.
  • Understanding of regulatory standards impacting reference data management.
  • Experience with data lineage and metadata management tools.

Our challenge

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to oversee and coordinate our Reference Data initiatives, with a strong focus on Golden Source systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in reference data management, data governance, and integration of Golden Source platforms, ensuring timely delivery of complex projects aligned with business objectives.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $120k – CAD $130k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end project management for Reference Data and Golden Source initiatives, including planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across data governance, IT, operations, and business teams to gather requirements and define project scope.
  • Coordinate technical activities related to data modeling, data quality, data lineage, and master data management.
  • Oversee the migration, integration, and enhancements of Golden Source systems, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, providing regular status updates to senior management.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies proactively.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance standards and best practices within project deliverables.
  • Facilitate communication between technical teams (developers, data stewards) and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and technical solutions related to reference data.
  • Support audit and regulatory requirements concerning master data.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience, ideally within capital markets or financial institutions.
  • Strong understanding of Reference Data concepts, data governance, and data quality frameworks.
