As a Technical Architect within TG Quality Foundations at Ubisoft, you will define and guide the technological vision for Runtime SDKs and C++ libraries, ensuring high quality, performance, and reusability for production teams. This role involves leading major architectural decisions, driving transversal initiatives, and prototyping innovative technologies to shape future game development tools. You will harmonize fragmented environments, set technical and quality standards, and foster convergence across projects, collaborating with production teams and partners to meet diverse needs sustainably.
Must have:
  • Lead major architecture decisions for TGQF technologies.
  • Define best practices and strategic directions for SDKs, frameworks, and tools.
  • Drive solutions for complex transversal topics like memory footprint and performance.
  • Ensure technical decisions align with long-term vision and evaluate risks.
  • Collaborate with other TG activities for ecosystem coherence.
  • Coach engineering teams in architectural thinking.
  • Facilitate architecture review processes.
  • Extensive software development and technical leadership experience.
  • Mastery of C++ with multi-threaded programming focus.
  • Deep understanding of performance optimization, debugging, and real-time systems.
  • Solid cross-platform development experience.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to define middleware technological vision.
  • Proven ability to guide technical roadmaps.
  • Strong leadership in managing and mentoring technical teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Your Mission

As a Technical Architect within TG Quality Foundations, you will define and guide the technological vision for our Runtime SDKs and C++ libraries, ensuring they deliver maximum quality, performance, and reusability to production teams across Ubisoft. You will lead major architectural decisions, drive transversal initiatives, and prototype innovative technologies that shape the future of game development tools.

Your role is pivotal in harmonizing fragmented environments, setting technical and quality standards, and fostering convergence across projects. You’ll collaborate with production teams, production architects and technological partners to ensure our solutions meet diverse needs while remaining sustainable and coherent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architectural Leadership: Lead and oversee major architecture decisions, ensuring coherence and long-term sustainability across TGQF technologies.
  • Strategic Technical Direction: Define best practices, standards, and strategic directions for SDKs, frameworks, pipelines, and tools used in production.
  • Cross-functional Impact: Drive solutions for complex, transversal topics such as memory footprint, performance and engine related constraints across all our SDKs
  • System Integration: Ensure technical decisions align with long-term vision, evaluating risks and interdependencies across systems.
  • Collaboration & Coaching: Liaise with other TG activities to ensure ecosystem-wide coherence, and coach engineering teams to grow in architectural thinking.
  • Architecture Review Stewardship: Facilitate architecture review processes, including cross-activity syncs and domain-specific discussions.
  • Innovation Support: Collaborate with Product teams and TG directors to evaluate opportunities that impact game developers in performance, debugging, observability, and automated testing.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience in software development and technical leadership.
  • Mastery of C++, with a strong focus on multi-threaded programming.
  • Deep understanding of performance optimization, debugging, and real-time systems.
  • Solid experience in cross-platform development.
  • Experience working with game engines such as Anvil, Snowdrop, or Unreal preferred
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent training.
  • Proven ability to define a clear technological vision for middleware and guide the development of technical roadmaps.
  • Strong leadership in managing and mentoring multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially in distributed team environments.
  • A collaborative mindset with a desire to share knowledge and push technological boundaries.
