Job Summary

A technical expert who can work towards our strategic direction to support customer networks integrating into a range of platforms including; Enterprise LAN/WAN, Satellite and Gateway network solutions in a complex and distributed business environment. This role is an important contributor in ensuring that the TACINT team delivers a superior network experience for our customer. You use your network skills and experience to contribute to specialist analysis, design, development and deployment in specific network technology domains, including how this technology inter-operates with other technologies. Being in our TACINT Operations team means you'll be working to provide secure network and solutions as directed by Defence.

Must Have

  • Hold a current security clearance to work on Federal agencies (NV1 or NV2) projects
  • Be an Australian Citizen
  • Have current NV1 clearance minimum
  • Be able to obtain and maintain an Australian Government NV2 security clearance
  • Sound skills in maintaining and supporting large scale networks
  • Understanding and hands-on experience with network architectures, routing, switching, and associated technologies

  • Experience with Installation/Implementation of Switches and Routers and their configuration
  • Knowledge of Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS), STP, LACP, QoS, BFD, Virtual Routing instances and Routing policies
  • Experience with Firewalls and Security policies
  • Experience with Prioritising, QOS, Load Balancing and Managing Data Flows, VPNs and Securing Network Devices
  • Experience with Carrier Grade platform IP MPLS/BGP based networks to provide Layer 2 and 3 services

  • CCNA certification
  • JNCIA certification
  • Associate level vendor equivalent certification

What you’ll work on

We are looking for a Network Engineer who can work towards our strategic direction for support across a range of platforms including; Enterprise LAN/WAN, Satellite and Gateway network solutions in a complex and distributed business environment.

This position can be in Brisbane or Canberra.

Key Responsibilities

Day to day activities in this role will see you maintaining and administering TACINT related networks, inputting into detailed network designs and writing implementation instructions to see your designs go from design to delivered.

  • Sound skills in maintaining and supporting large scale networks
  • An understanding and hands on experience with network architectures, routing, switching, and associated technologies.
  • Demonstrate implementation skills, creative problem solving, strategic planning and advanced communication skills.
  • Analyse complex scenarios across multiple knowledge areas.
  • Regularly identify and present solutions to meet stakeholder objectives.
  • Facilitate and effectively communicate with your peers and customers using relevant formats and medium.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Pragmatic, analytical and sound judgement.
  • Deliver work to agreed performance standards whether as an individual, part of a team or a leader of a team.
  • Hold a current security clearance to work on Federal agencies (NV1 or NV2) projects.

About You

You will have skills and experiences in these areas:

  • Maintaining LAN/WAN and Wireless systems.
  • Installation/Implementation of Switches and Routers and their configuration.
  • Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS), STP, LACP, QoS, BFD, Virtual Routing instances and Routing policies.
  • Firewalls and Security policies.
  • Prioritising, QOS, Load Balancing and Managing Data Flows, VPNs and Securing Network Devices.
  • Network gateway experience is advantageous.
  • Carrier Grade platform IP MPLS/BGP based networks to provide Layer 2 and 3 services.

Favorable certifications

  • CCNA

  • Associate level vendor equivalent

Candidates must be Australian Citizens and have current NV1 clearance minimum to be considered. This role will require you to obtain and maintain an Australian Government NV2 security clearance.
