Onward Search is seeking a Solution Architect for a remote, long-term contract-to-hire role based in Hartford, CT, supporting a large healthcare client. The role involves designing architectural solutions for enterprise-scale applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and leading key clinical and technical initiatives. This opportunity combines hands-on architecture with significant leadership responsibilities across various programs and projects.
Must Have
- Create architectural designs and lead architectural design for enterprise-scale applications and integrations.
- Collaborate with enterprise and clinical architecture teams to ensure alignment.
- Work with product teams to translate capabilities into architectural/technical designs.
- Guide technical leads and engineers across multiple projects.
- Act as the senior architect on major initiatives, including clinical programs.
- Provide architectural oversight and hands-on support throughout the development lifecycle.
- 10+ years in software engineering and architecture roles.
- Strong experience in Java, Python, Spring Boot, and front-end frameworks (Angular/JavaScript).
- Strong experience in understanding non-functional requirements (SLA, response time, real time, near real time, multi-threading).
- 5+ years of full stack development experience.
- 5+ years of SQL, NoSQL, Redis and any relevant database experience.
- 5+ years in cloud platforms (GCP/AWS), microservices, and API design.
- Experience with DevOps tools (Kubernetes, Jenkins, Docker, Git) and Kafka.
- Familiarity with AI/ML technologies, especially Generative AI and LLMs.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
Good to Have
- Experience in healthcare domain.
- Full-stack development experience.
- Experience working with distributed teams across time zones.

Automation Solution Architect Responsibilities:
- Create architectural designs and lead architectural design for enterprise-scale applications and integrations.
- Collaborate with enterprise and clinical architecture teams to ensure alignment.
- Work with product teams (owners, managers) to understand the capabilities being requested and translate them into architectural/technical designs.
- Guide technical leads and engineers across multiple projects.
- Act as the senior architect on major initiatives, including clinical programs.
- Provide architectural oversight and hands-on support throughout the development lifecycle.
Automation Solution Architect Qualifications:
- 10+ years in software engineering and architecture roles (technical lead, solution architect, enterprise architect).
- Strong experience in Java, Python, Spring Boot, and front-end frameworks (Angular/JavaScript).
- Strong experience in understanding non-functional requirements (SLA, response time, real time, near real time, multi-threading) and ability to create designs that meet the non-functional requirements.
- 5+ years of full stack development experience.
- 5+ years of SQL, NoSQL, Redis and any relevant database experience.
- 5+ years in cloud platforms (GCP/AWS), microservices, and API design.
- Experience with DevOps tools (Kubernetes, Jenkins, Docker, Git) and Kafka.
