We are seeking a skilled Technical Production Designer to join our team, focusing primarily on packaging and signage projects for in-store retail environments. The ideal candidate will bridge technical production knowledge with design expertise to ensure high-quality printed materials that meet specifications and brand standards while driving retail impact. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented designer who thrives at the intersection of creativity and technical production, with a passion for delivering print materials that enhance the retail experience while maintaining the highest standards of quality and brand consistency. Responsibilities include creating and building dielines, developing style guides, applying design standards, partnering with teams for reviews, building a design library, preparing files for print production, troubleshooting issues, and designing effective retail display materials.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years in a design-related field
  • Strong understanding of print production processes
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Portfolio demonstrating retail packaging and signage projects
Good to have:
  • Passion for design systems and processes
  • Knowledge of retail-specific production requirements

We are seeking a skilled Technical Production Designer to join our team, focusing primarily on packaging and signage projects for in-store retail environments. The ideal candidate will bridge technical production knowledge with design expertise to ensure high-quality printed materials that meet specifications and brand standards while driving retail impact.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented designer who thrives at the intersection of creativity and technical production, with a passion for delivering print materials that enhance the retail experience while maintaining the highest standards of quality and brand consistency.

This full-time position reports to the Director of Creative Operations and is expected to work in a hybrid model, which currently includes Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in-office.

What you’ll do:

  • Create and build dielines to specification for packaging and in-store retail signage projects
  • Develop comprehensive style guides to maintain brand consistency across all printed retail materials
  • Apply established design standards to work created by external partners
  • Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders for design reviews and revision processes
  • Build and maintain a cohesive design library and toolkit for company-wide use
  • Prepare files for print production, ensuring color accuracy and technical specifications are met
  • Troubleshoot production issues and recommend solutions
  • Design effective retail display materials that enhance the in-store customer experience

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years in a design-related field  
  • Passion for design systems and processes
  • Strong understanding of print production processes, color management, and materials
  • Knowledge of retail-specific production requirements and in-store display standards
  • Experience with packaging dielines and structural design for retail environments
  • Familiarity with large format printing and retail signage production
  • Understanding of retail environments, merchandising principles, and display requirements
  • Experience with point-of-purchase (POP) display design
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop along with Figma and project management programs
  • Experience with packaging and spatial design software
  • Impeccable eye for detail and consistency, strong quality control skills, and the ability to produce organized files
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, communicate progress, manage expectations and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders at all levels
  • Portfolio demonstrating retail packaging and in-store signage projects

The base pay range for this position is: $73,000 to $92,000. Please note that placement within the posted salary range is based on several factors, including geographic location, experience, skills, alignment with role requirements and other job-related factors. It is uncommon for offers to be made at the top of the range, as this typically reflects a candidate who exceeds all role requirements and brings significant, directly applicable experience. We benchmark our pay ranges against current external data sources and regularly review compensation for our team members.
