As a Senior Technology Architecture Specialist, you will translate customer needs into fit-for-purpose technology architecture patterns and artefacts, driving consistency and best practices. You will apply deep technology expertise to set principles, standards, and roadmaps for technical development, focusing on network-specific technology domains. This role involves driving the design, development, and deployment of solutions, making technology investment recommendations, and ensuring quality engineering solutions for Telstra’s Strategic Inventory and autonomous network.
Must have:

  • Work using Agile methodologies.
  • Perform Big Data analysis.
  • Lead architecture and lifecycle maintenance of network applications.
  • Develop and optimise network inventory models.
  • Experience in data transformation to Graph database.
  • Actively engage in network inventory migration.
  • Identify requirements for Data Extraction and transformation.
  • Design new Data Models and model conversions.
  • Work with TMF standards (TMF-633, 634, 638, 639).
  • Perform inventory schema development and metadata definitions.
Good to have:
  • Software development background from Node.js or Python development
  • Scripting and automation using programming languages such as Python and tools such as Ansible
  • Exposure to Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning
  • Experience in Network Orchestration, Network management tools and systems
  • Ability to create technology evolution roadmaps and long-term strategies
  • Experience in integrating Network infrastructure and network applications into OSS and BSS systems

  • As a Senior Technology Architecture Specialist, you thrive on understanding and translating customer needs into fit-for-purpose technology architecture patterns and artefacts that can be employed by solution teams, driving consistency and best-practices to delight our customers. You apply deep technology expertise and experience to set principles, standards and roadmaps for the technical development of technology domain of focus. Your continuous learning and improvement mindset, collaboration and critical thinking skills are critical to success in this role. Solution architect will drive the design, development and deployment in network specific technology domains, including developing platform specific technology roadmaps and making technology investment recommendations to deliver products and infrastructure to defined service level standards.

How the role contributes to business strategy?

  • Effectively and efficiently support a diverse set of technical projects with specific outcomes via programs of work in Technology delivery as well as expert input and recommendation with regards to future looking technical projects. The measurable deliverables and outcomes of this role will be the design and delivery of quality Engineering solutions for Telstra’s Strategic Inventory and autonomous network.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Translate customer (internal, external or regulatory) needs and requirements, using technical principles into realisable architectures in a timely, quality and cost-effective way.
  • Lead the optimisation of Network Inventory data models to improve accuracy and data quality.
  • Actively keeping across changes in TMF standards and API specifications especially around Resource and Service inventory best practices.
  • Assess capability of vendor solutions and offerings to meet business requirements and manage vendor technology delivery.
  • Evaluate designs and architecture proposals to meet the business requirements.
  • Lead in technology trials and proof of concept initiatives for automation & orchestration platforms within Fixed Networks.
  • Perform tasks from strategy down to detailed design when required.
  • Provide a strategic view on deployment and implementations tasks.
  • Provide input into performance monitoring and customer experience monitoring.
  • Focus on continuing professional learning and development related to technology and methodology that benefits the individual as well as effectiveness in the role.
  • Design, build and maintain applications/tools to manage and expose domain resources and services
  • Authentically engage with a multi-stakeholder landscape to translate customer needs into leading-edge software application products, services or systems that meet Telstra’s time, cost, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and key stakeholders, seeking support, direction and buy-in to gather deep insights about the challenges and opportunities of our software application technologies and platforms.
  • Significantly contribute to continuous improvement initiatives of our systems and processes, to help define ‘best practice’ corporate testing standards and drive improved outcomes (e.g. productivity, customer experience and/or profitability)
  • Focus on continuing professional learning and development related to technology and methodology that benefits the individual as well as effectiveness in the role.
  • Work using Agile methodologies in line with Telstra’s strategic direction for increasing efficiency and maximising workforce utility.

Key Activities for this role:

  • Big Data analysis
  • Lead architecture and lifecycle maintenance of carrier grade network applications, including Network Inventory Systems.
  • Develop and optimise network inventory models (physical, logical and service)
  • Experience in data transformation from Relational to Graph database and large-scale migrations.
  • Actively engage in the network inventory migration
  • Identify and define requirements for Data Extraction tool and Data transformation for inventory migration
  • Design new Data Models and model conversions
  • Working with TMF standards, especially TMF-633, TMF-634, TMF-638 & TMF639 specifications.
  • Perform inventory schema development and metadata model definitions.

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Lead architecture and lifecycle maintenance of carrier grade network applications and systems.
  • Applications including Network Inventory systems.
  • Minimum 10 years of overall experience
  • Big data analysis.
  • Inventory Metadata modelling and development.
  • Experience working with Graph DB (neo4j)
  • Proficient with the TM Forum API specifications; TMF-633, 634, 638 & 639 standards and specifications.
  • Experience establishing and working with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) data pipelines
  • Experience working with data transformation tools and algorithms.
  • Experience with Database design and concepts for scaling inventory solutions
  • Analysis based data model optimization.
  • Knowledge of Layer-0, Layer-1, Layer-2, Layer-3 network technologies and data model exposure.
  • Experience working with carrier-grade Inventory solutions and migrations
  • Data modelling
  • Workflow automation process development
  • Proficient with REST API development (Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience)
  • Hands-on experience on test automation framework
  • Hands on experience in developing Workflow automation capabilities.
  • Release management knowledge.
  • Ability to articulate complex technical and business problems, requirements, constraints, and strategy to a range of audiences.
  • Experience working Scrum agile methodology
  • Experience with Telstra’s New Ways of Working methodology, practices, and mindset:
  • Agile, DevOps, Lean, Human Centred Design
  • Jira, Confluence
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills that can adapt to different teams, individuals, and personality types as well as able to author, review and evaluate technical and non-technical documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering/ Computer Science / Information Technology / Telecommunications

Highly desirable skills:
