Job Description

The candidate will analyze customer environments, assess solutions, and be knowledgeable about competitive technologies. They will anticipate technical issues, develop solutions, and ensure customer success. This role requires expert-level understanding of Thermal, Mechanical, and/or Structural Analysis at the PCB and IC Package level. The individual will collaborate with Applications Engineers and other teams, requiring strong communication skills for interacting with Cadence R&D, Product Engineering, Marketing, and customers. The job involves taking technical leadership on projects and ensuring customer success.
Must have:
  • Master's or Ph.D. in relevant engineering field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in thermal modeling and testing.
  • In-depth knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
  • Experience with thermal CFD modeling software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of Cadence Celsius Studio, Sigrity and Tcl.
  • Previous Field Application Engineering experience.

Takes responsibility for technical leadership on a wide range of projects; Has expert-level understanding of Thermal, Mechanical, and/or Structural Analysis issues at the PCB and IC Package level. This individual will work with peer Applications Engineers and other business groups, and must be competent in working unsupervised at customer locations. The individual must possess excellent communication skills for interfacing effectively with Cadence R&D, Product Engineering, Marketing and customers. Understands customer success criteria and is committed to ensuring customer success. 

Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field with 5 to 10 years of direct hands-on experience and proficiency in thermal modeling and testing in a related high-tech industry. In-depth knowledge of EDA industry with expert-level understanding of Thermal Analysis issues at the PCB and IC Package level. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of heat transfer (conduction, convection, and radiation) and fluid mechanics areas (CFD). Extensive experience in applying numerical schemes and/or commercially available software to practical problems in electronic cooling. Previous knowledge and proficiency with major thermal CFD modelling software, such as Mentor’s FloTHERM or Ansys’ IcePak is highly preferred. Knowledge of Cadence Celsius Studio, Sigrity and Tcl, etc. is also desirable. The candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present and clearly articulate solutions individually, and in front of medium to large groups is essential. Previous Field Application Engineering experience is a plus.

The annual salary range for California is $123,200 to $228,800. You may also be eligible to receive incentive compensation: bonus, equity, and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the salary range is a guideline and compensation may vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
