Web Engineer

Devolver Digital is seeking a Web Engineer to build and maintain scalable web applications using modern JavaScript technologies, focusing on functional user experiences and robust backend systems. The role involves assisting the Engineering team in designing and developing full-stack web applications with Node.js and Next.js, creating server-side APIs and dynamic frontend interfaces, and working with database solutions like Snowflake and MongoDB.

Must Have

• 3+ years of professional experience in web development
• Strong proficiency in Node.js for building server-side applications and APIs
• Hands-on experience with Next.js, including App Router and Pages Router
• Solid understanding of React and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Experience designing and working with relational and non-relational databases
• Familiarity with RESTful API design and implementation
• Comfortable with Git version control
• Strong foundation in HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles

Good to Have

• Experience with TypeScript for type-safe development
• Familiarity with additional technologies such as Next.js, Tailwind CSS, or other CSS frameworks
• Experience with deployment platforms such as Vercel, AWS, or similar cloud services
• Experience with GraphQL, Redis or other caching solutions
• Experience with authentication systems (NextAuth.js, JWT, OAuth)
• Knowledge of queue systems such as RabbitMQ or Kafka

You’ll be responsible for assisting the Engineering team with designing and developing full-stack web applications using Node.js and Next.js, creating both server-side APIs and dynamic frontend interfaces. You'll work with different database solutions including Snowflake and MongoDB for data storage and retrieval.

Qualities we’re looking for

• We're looking for someone with 3+ years of professional experience in web development, with strong proficiency in Node.js for building server-side applications and APIs.
• You should have hands-on experience with Next.js, including both the App Router and Pages Router, and a solid understanding of React and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Experience designing and working with relational and non-relational databases is essential, as is familiarity with RESTful API design and implementation.
• You should be comfortable with Git version control and have a strong foundation in HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles.

Nice to Haves
