HCL Software is a division of HCL Technologies that develops and delivers a next-generation portfolio of enterprise-grade software-based offerings with flexible consumption models, spanning traditional on-premises software, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), and bundled managed services. We bring speed, insights and innovations (big and small) to create value for our customers in Dev Ops, Automation and Application Modernization software.

We are looking for a Senior Development engineer to sustain different versions of the product (Zen) that is currently at version 15. The product is used in different embedded systems (applications do not expose the database product).

This is a senior level position. The sustaining engineer contributes to all facets of the development and maintenance of the Zen product line. The product handles enormous amount of data and can be critical to our customers’ missions 24x7. The person in this role will function as an individual contributor and have excellent software development skills and work closely with Support, QA, and development. The person will learn the various versions and functions of the product and be able to debug existing code for defects found by internal and external users. The person needs to become an expert in how the product operates and be the first stop for customer escalations into Engineering. Work requires exercising judgment within generally defined practices in selecting methods or obtaining solutions.

Key Responsiblities:

Work with product support to reproduce product related cases and escalations.
Diagnose and resolve complex product issues.
Participate in requirements analysis, design reviews, code review and other work related to Zen product functionality.
Improve processes in existing development cycles to ensure that customer reported issues do not reappear.
Create test strategies and plans encompassing a suite of reliable test cases.
Provide input to QA engineers for building tests that verify implemented product defects.

Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Five or more years of professional experience in software development or maintenance, with in-depth debugging skills.
In-depth knowledge of C and C++ to diagnose and analyze defects. Knowledge of Java and Python is also useful.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
User space and server side debugging on Windows and Linux operating systems. Proficiency in tools used for this.
Experience working with file systems, transactional databases and SQL.
