Principal Concept Artist, Characters

Believer is seeking a Principal Character Concept Artist to join their team and define the visual style for a new video game franchise, focusing on stylized art. This role involves collaborating with the creative and art teams to conceptualize and develop unique characters, creating detailed concept art, and coordinating with 3D, animation, narrative, and design departments. The artist will also mentor junior concept artists and stay updated with industry trends to enhance the game's immersive experience.

With a focus on stylized art, this Principal Concept Artist role will bring the game's many characters to life and help create an immersive and engaging experience for players. You will report directly to the Concept Art Lead.<h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">What you'll do:</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Collaborate closely with the Creative Director, Concept Art Lead, and other members of the art team to conceptualize and develop a unique pantheon of characters that embody the game's overall vision and style</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Create memorable characters and concept art, including sketches, turnarounds, and illustrations, to communicate design ideas to the team</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Coordinate with the 3D, animation, narrative, and design departments to ensure characters represent our vision and gameplay, and that designs are functional across teams</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Advance and improve concept art quality by facilitating and participating in team critiques and offering constructive feedback to team members</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Inspire and mentor concept artists to ensure team cohesion, and to guide and develop the team</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, incorporating new techniques and approaches into your work</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">You are a great fit if:</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">You have 10+ years of experience as a concept artist in the video game industry, including at least one AAA title in a senior or principal role</li><li class="leading-relaxed">A portfolio of concept art that demonstrates your creativity, artistic skills, and ability to work within a creative vision</li><li class="leading-relaxed">An expert in creating stylized concept art for games with a clear art direction and a creative flair</li><li class="leading-relaxed">A strong grasp of traditional artistic skills such as composition, anatomy, color theory, and costume design</li><li class="leading-relaxed">An expert at using Photoshop or other equivalent concept art software</li><li class="leading-relaxed">You are a natural collaborator, willing to share, mentor, and partner with other teams</li><li class="leading-relaxed">A passion for gaming and the ability to bring a unique perspective to concept art design that enhances the game experience</li></ul>Please note - research shows that certain groups of candidates may not apply to jobs unless they meet every single requirement. The support team offers phone, email, and chat channels for our clients to contact us. The support team is responsible to achieve and exceed acceptable service levels for all channels.Team Leader, Partner Support is responsible for the overall success of a company's Partner Support team. They may be required to work directly with corporate stakeholders and individual franchisees and dealers, with a passion for effective, results-oriented support.
