The Retailer Vertical department at NielsenIQ is looking for an Analytical Consultant to help clients navigate consumer behavior and retail performance. You will partner with FMCG sector leaders, delivering insights to shape in-store strategies and drive business growth. The role involves supporting strategic clients in the Netherlands, combining analytical expertise with retail dynamics knowledge to provide actionable insights. Initially focused on FMCG, the scope may expand to T&D sectors. Responsibilities include supporting client performance by leveraging data, acting as a primary contact for research teams and category managers, conducting marketing mix analyses, delivering insights on market trends and consumer behaviors, and translating these into strategic recommendations. You will also generate commercial leads and collaborate with sales and expert teams.
Must have:
  • Native Dutch speaker
  • Strong English proficiency
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree
  • 2-3 years of FMCG/analytical experience
  • Proficient in panel data analysis
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills

The Retailer Vertical department at NielsenIQ is at the forefront of helping our clients navigate the evolving landscape of consumer behavior and retail performance. Our team partners daily with leading players in the FMCG sector, delivering insights that shape in-store strategies and drive business growth. 

As an Analytical Consultant, you will play a key role in supporting some of our strategic clients in the Netherlands. You will combine your analytical expertise with a deep understanding of retail dynamics to deliver actionable insights. While the initial focus will be on FMCG, the scope of your role may expand in the future to include T&D sectors. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Insight & Strategy 

  • Support your retail client in enhancing performance from headquarters to point of sale by leveraging multiple data sources, especially retailer panel data. 

  • Act as the on-site or primary contact for research teams, category managers, buyers, private label managers, and store owners. 

  • Conduct marketing mix analyses (pricing, assortment, promotions, shelf availability) to support commercial decision-making. 

  • Deliver clear, actionable insights on market trends, sales data, and evolving consumer behaviors (e.g., organic products, e-commerce, private labels). 

  • Translate insights into strategic recommendations (Quantified Business Opportunities) 

Sales Ready Leads & Collaboration 

  • Generate commercial leads by identifying opportunities during client interactions and sharing them with the Account Development team.  

  • Collaborate effectively with sales and expert teams to meet clients needs and requirements 

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our analytics offerings and client engagement strategies. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Native Dutch speaker with strong English proficiency (spoken and written). 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field. 

  • 2–3 years of experience in the FMCG sector or a similar analytical role. 

Technical Skills 

  • Proficient in analyzing panel data and interpreting complex datasets. 

  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. 

  • Experience with Discover or GfK newron is a plus. 

Soft Skills 

  • Organized, responsible, and proactive. 

  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills. 

  • Skilled in storytelling and client-centric communication. 

  • Able to build trust and long-term relationships with clients. 

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
