The Strategic Projects Team (SPT) Area Sales Manager (ASM) will proactively develop large project opportunities encompassing a wide range of products and services (core and emerging technologies) with particular focus on next generation technology and platforms.
The Area Sales Manager will be a part of the Central Strategic Projects Team and responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Overall strategy, direction, and execution of their identified strategic projects
- Effectively lead internal teams on critical projects and issue resolution with clear direction and purpose; Interface with all team members in a way that drives business results and motivates the proper activity
- Develop strong, trusted advisor relationships with key decision makers and influencers within and outside of public safety: Mayor, CIO, and other elected officials in order to understand and influence funding; Interact with Senior customer level and consultants/lobbyists; Work independently under limited direction
- Drive strategies with government customers for Motorola success in the bid and sole source environment
- Responsible for achieving both orders and associated financial performance criterion for their assigned territory by creating and maintaining a healthy team pipeline
- Network with key Motorola Solutions' work partners including pre-sales engineers, area services team, marketing, product management, sales operations, and order/credit management to ensure your territory objectives are met
- Maintain project specific Customer intelligence data in Motorola CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system
- Accurately forecast project order and revenue numbers on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
- Be aware of competition and technology disruptors that may impact your territory and business community
- Possess excellent communication skills and have demonstrated problem-solving and negotiating
- Understand Motorola Solutions contract terms and compliance requirements
- This is a remote-based position. The candidate must reside in and be willing to travel throughout the Central region of the US.
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years of sales/public safety experience
- OR 8+ years of sales/public safety experience
- 5+ years of documented track record of sales performance within a technology environment preferred
- Microsoft Office suite and Salesforce/related CRM experience
- Proven time management skills
- Must be willing to travel 50%+
- Effective and proven negotiation skills on large project opportunities
- Creative and strategic mindset and thinking process
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with C-Level executives
- Highly effective communication skills (oral, written & presentation)
- Possess strong relationship management skills
- Ability to drive strategies with government customers for Motorola success in the competitive bid and sole source procurement environment
- Must be able to multi task at an extremely high level while managing multiple active projects
- Must be a self-starter who’s very motivated and possesses an extreme drive towards business goals and Motorola’s success
- Must be able to drive and accelerate projects and their timelines
- Possess and understanding of the public safety domain, Motorola portfolio, competitive landscape, customer procurement processes, and has dealt effectively with political decision making landscapes
- Ability to quickly learn Salesforce as the project reporting tool and forecasting method
