The IT organization seeks a Business Intelligence Architect to enhance business capabilities by providing curated datasets and technical solutions to business executives. The role involves utilizing cloud solutions for standardized data models across domains, translating analytical capabilities from SQL and Power BI into business value. Responsibilities include data ownership, data quality improvement, developing data transformation pipelines, streamlining manual processes, designing relational models, and implementing security measures. The architect will contribute to building a world-class BI organization.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Strong communication skills
  • 6+ years SQL experience in analytical workflows
  • 3+ years experience with Snowflake or cloud data warehouse
  • 3+ years supporting a business domain
  • 6+ years experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced relational modeling skills
  • Advanced SQL skills utilizing CTEs
  • Experience with dbt cloud
  • 6+ years experience with Power BI
  • Strong self-management skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD workflows
  • 2+ years experience with DataVault architecture
  • Knowledge of cloud data lake architectures
  • 2+ years experience delivering data features
  • Experience optimizing BI reports
  • Experience composing conceptual data models
  • Intimate knowledge of DAX language
  • Experience deploying custom BI applications

SUMMARY
The IT organization is looking for a Business Intelligence Architect to play a pivotal role in the expansion of business capability by providing curated datasets and technical solutions to business executives.  Furthermore, the individual will be utilizing the latest cloud solutions to deliver standardized, ubiquitous data models across various domains within the organization. This role requires excellent communication skills to translate analytical capability from SQL, Power BI, and overall data engineering experience into business value.   

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a culture of data ownership and stewardship
  • Improve data quality and hierarchical data structures
  • Develop new data transformation pipelines using SQL, dbt and jinja in a consistent data modeling architecture
  • Recognize and streamline manual processes by applying BI approaches using cloud-based technology
  • Design relational models in Power BI reports to support the growing requirements of the business
  • Connect domain master data to other Ansys-wide data models and initiatives
  • Implement MVP principles to refine and design solutions in an agile fashion
  • Establish robust and dynamic security (RLS/OLS) on Power BI datasets in line with business requirements  
  • Enhance existing ELT efforts to increase analytical capability and business features
  • Promote self-service data analytics
  • Help us build a world-class BI organization by developing, standardizing, maintaining and driving continuous improvement of Business Intelligence processes

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Economics or equivalent technical field
  • Strong communication skills to gather, translate and organize business requirements
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience leveraging SQL in complex analytical workflows or a DBMS to create DML and DDL scripts
  • 3+ years of experience with Snowflake or another cloud-based data warehouse
  • 3+ years supporting a business facing domain with consistent reporting deliverables
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience with the Microsoft Office Suite including advanced excel knowledge and SharePoint Online exposure
  • Advanced relational modeling skills with experience building data marts, star schemas and bridge tables
  • Advanced SQL skills utilizing CTEs and window functions in analytical workflows
  • Experience with dbt cloud or similar SDLC processes for data
  • Familiarity with an ERP data stack (Oracle, SAP)
  • Familiarity with an enterprise CRM data stack (Salesforce, Dynamics)
  • 6+ years experience with Power BI covering composite models, Power Query transformations, DAX calculations, drilldown features, and service security
  • Strong self-management skills

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior work experience deploying version-controlled data pipelines (Git) with CI/CD workflows
  • 2+ years experience with DataVault architecture
  • Knowledge of various cloud data lake architectures (AWS S3, Azure ADLSG2, Google Coud Storage)
  • 2+ years experience delivering data features or preprocessed datasets for AI/ML workflows
  • Experience optimizing BI reports for server-side execution
  • Prior work experience composing conceptual and logical data models with graphical tools
  • Intimate knowledge of the DAX language for Power BI including a deep understanding of filter context
  • Experience deploying custom BI analytical applications – PowerApps, PowerOn, Streamlit, Azure Functions, Shiny apps
