Job Description

The Career Pathways Specialist will work with immigrants to help them choose a career path, provide coaching on career interests and skills, advise on skill acquisition, and help them find employment. This role focuses on supporting young adults between 18 and 24 interested in vocational training. The specialist will lead Career Exploration activities, utilize virtual reality tools, and establish pathways for participants to explore careers. They will manage a caseload, provide coaching using structured curriculum, facilitate workshops, and oversee interns. The role also involves collaboration with other departments to address barriers to self-sufficiency and coordinate with churches and volunteers.
Must have:

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

POSITION SUMMARY:
Do you enjoy providing coaching to people as they make key decisions? Are you people oriented yet also enjoy navigating systems? Are you interested in assisting refugees, asylees and other immigrants integrate into the US by planning with them to begin their career? If so, the position of Career Pathways Specialist might be just the job for you.  As Career Pathways Specialist you will work side-by-side with immigrants to discover their career pathway, provide coaching to help clarify their career interests and skills, advise on skill acquisition, and promote entry into employment within their chosen field. The Career Pathways Specialist, guides immigrants to enter their career of choice by helping them clarify their interests and goals, preparing them for vocational training opportunities, finding funding opportunities for training, career coaching, and developing and maintaining connections with a variety of external stakeholders. Your role will focus on supporting young adult participants between the ages of 18 and 24, specifically those interested in building careers through vocational training. You will also lead the implementation of innovative Career Exploration approaches, utilizing virtual reality tools and establishing pathways for participants to explore careers further in real world settings. 

This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until June 30, 2026 and contingent upon funding extension.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Build and manage a caseload of young adult clients by guiding them through career pathway selection, supporting them through vocational training and employment placement.
  • Lead the ongoing development of programming that specifically supports young adults pursuing vocational training in manufacturing, construction, transportation, and the health sciences. 
  • Lead the implementation of Career Exploration activities in collaboration with World Relief’s Children and Youth, Adult Education, and Workforce Development departments, utilizing a virtual reality simulator for clients to explore and build familiarity with specific career paths
  • Establish partnerships with employers and training partners for participants to explore careers further, after participating in a Career Exploration simulation. 
  • Provide culturally responsive career coaching using structured curriculum to help clients explore interests, develop actionable career plans, and navigate key industries such as healthcare, advanced manufacturing, construction, and transportation.
  • Facilitate virtual/in person Career Readiness workshops to teach key skills related to securing employment in the US. 
  • Oversee interns working in the Career Pathways Program.
  • Satisfy documentation and reporting requirements in accordance with grant standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Workforce Development, Immigrant Family Services and Adult Education Departments to creatively address barriers to self-sufficiency.
  • Coordinate with churches and volunteers serving WRC clients seeking employment.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • At least one year experience in an office environment
  • Valid Driver’s License and good driving record 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong active listening skills and ability to facilitate (or learn to facilitate) an effective career coaching session
  • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to build rapport with diverse individuals
  • Experience in program management or project management
  • Experience with coaching, counseling, or advising individuals. 
  • In -depth knowledge (or willingness to build) of various career paths, industries, and job market trends in the fields of healthcare, advanced manufacturing, information technology, TDL, and education. 
  • Proven experience in job search strategies, resume writing, and interview preparation.
  • Ability to assess clients’ strengths, weaknesses, and interests to guide career decisions
  • Expertise in goal setting techniques and creating actionable career development plans
  • Ability to use and interpret career interest tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Cultural competence and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Proficient at public speaking and representing your organization
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
