The Chief Engineer & Scientist, CT/AMI will define the global scientific vision and strategic direction for CT/AMI solutions and imaging platforms at Philips. This role involves driving innovation, research excellence, and impacting healthcare through advanced imaging technologies. Responsibilities include formulating scientific strategies, leading cross-functional innovation teams, building international recognition, mentoring talent, overseeing R&D portfolios, and analyzing market trends to ensure compliance and maximize customer value. The position requires collaboration with clinical experts, engineering, product marketing, and executive leadership, as well as external relationships with regulatory bodies and academic institutions.

Job Description

The Chief Engineer & Scientist, CT/AMI shapes the global scientific vision and strategic direction for CT/AMI solutions and imaging platforms, driving innovation, research excellence, and transformational healthcare impact.

You will advance Philips’ research and development agenda for CT/AMI solutions while steering the imaging platform strategy that underpins future product innovation. Your work will directly influence patient outcomes, define the evolution of imaging technologies, and strengthen Philips’ position as a leader in healthcare innovation.

Your role:

  • Formulate and implement long-term scientific strategies aligned with business objectives, customer needs, and healthcare trends. Define platform architecture and technology integration across imaging portfolios.

Externally, you will maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies, academic institutions, and industry partners to influence standards and shape future directions in imaging.

You're the right fit if:

  • PhD or equivalent advanced degree in Medical Imaging, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience (achievement and leadership) in imaging equipment development.
  • Recognized scientific leader in CT/AMI imaging with a strong record of publications, patents, or technological breakthroughs.
  • Proven experience managing R&D or scientific innovation teams in a global and matrixed organization.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate scientific advancements into competitive products.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed teams.
  • Expertise in imaging platform architecture, clinical requirements translation, and regulatory environments.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability working with key stakeholders to shape the innovation pipeline with new concepts and ideas while shaping the business portfolio.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large global multi-disciplinary teams. Ability to partner with critical stakeholders, including product marketing, clinical science, Service, PMO, and other enabling functions.
  • Strong and inspiring people leader with a track record of performance and leading large development teams in multiple geographies.

Philips Transparency Details for Cleveland, OH, USA location

The pay range for this position in Ohio (OH) is $191,250 to $306,000.

The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered. Employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive Philips Total Rewards benefits program, which includes a generous PTO, 401k (up to 7% match), HSA (with company contribution), stock purchase plan, education reimbursement and much more.
