This Operations Engineer role for Connected Car (Off-board) systems focuses on cloud system maintenance, operation, and quality management. ① Responsible Development Area, Business Overview, and Role/Position within R&D of the Department

This is the cloud system maintenance and operation, and quality control department.

Teams are divided by roles:

  • Budget management
  • Support desk
  • System operation

② Specific Job Responsibilities and Expected Role/Position within and outside the Department

  • Discovery, Root Cause Analysis, and Restoration of Failures
  • Monitor the operational status and service quality of cloud systems to detect failures.
  • Acquire and analyze logs from the system to identify the cause.
  • Escalate to the appropriate development department and respond to failures to a level where users are not affected.
  • While not directly involved in coding, it is required to understand the system architecture and logically explain the situation to internal engineering departments when incidents occur.
  • Quality Control and Data Provision
  • Monitor service quality, detect abnormal signs such as performance degradation trends, and implement necessary countermeasures.
  • Analyze data acquired during the quality control process and provide reports to other departments.
  • Operation Project Management
  • Projects for preparing for the start of operations related to new services and expansion to new regions.
  • Projects for OTA (Over The Air) distribution for remote software delivery.
  • Handle inquiries and incidents related to connected services using a ticket system.
  • Project management for new projects and improvement processes.

③ Work Environment and Working Style (Member Composition, Workplace Atmosphere, Characteristics)

This is a team composed of Nissan engineers and partner companies. Many Nissan engineers in this department are mid-career hires from IT and infrastructure companies. Those with experience in budget management, design, outsourced design, verification, and deployment as in-house SEs at operating companies are also active. Those who have served as leaders at support desks are also active.

There are many opportunities for English communication, including meetings with partner companies (including offshore) and regions where connected cars & services are deployed. This role is suitable for those who enjoy analyzing failures and operations.
