Job Description

The Customer Engineer, Public Sector role involves working with the business team to introduce Google Cloud to customers, helping them understand its potential and develop cloud solutions. Responsibilities include assessing workloads for migration, planning migration processes, and resolving technical roadblocks. The role requires identifying business opportunities, understanding customer objections, and demonstrating Google Cloud products. It also includes recommending integration strategies, leading new customer acquisition, and building strong customer relationships. The engineer will share Google Cloud expertise, supporting technical relationships, bid responses, and proof-of-concept work.
Good To Have:
  • Data center consolidation/migration experience
  • Experience architecting scalable systems
  • Configuration management (Puppet, Chef, etc.)
  • Networking concepts (routing, VPNs, etc.)
  • Public/Hybrid cloud experience, Linux migration
Must Have:
  • 6+ years cloud native architecture experience
  • Cloud computing environment experience
  • Professional Services/Systems Engineering experience
  • Customer-facing role experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing role.
  • Experience working as a technical engineer in a cloud computing environment.
  • Experience working as a member of a Professional Services/Systems Engineering team or in a customer-facing role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with data centers consolidation, relocation, migration, or virtualization projects.
  • Experience in architecting and developing software or infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems.
  • Experience in configuration management (e.g., Puppet, Chef, CFEngine, Salt), and functional operations of server, storage, and network functions.
  • Experience with networking concepts (e.g., Routing, VPNs, load balancers, and firewalls).
  • Experience with private, hybrid, or public cloud technology, migrating Linux, including virtualization (e.g., VMware).

Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers.
  • Work with Google Cloud products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments.
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to implement a complete solution on Google Cloud.
  • Lead prospecting and acquisition of new logos, creating and building customer relationships from scratch, and establishing yourself as a trusted advisor on their technology and business decisions.
  • Share in-depth Google Cloud expertise to support the technical relationship with customers, including technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and partnering with product management to prioritize solutions impacting customer adoption to Google Cloud.
