The Data Integration Platform Specialist-Kafka will administer, configure, and optimize the data integration platform, contributing to its strategic roadmap and ensuring security and compliance. This role involves monitoring performance, managing capacity, and applying DevOps principles for automation. The specialist will act as a technical advisor, adhere to ITIL processes, define architectural standards, and provide guidance to developers. Key responsibilities also include process improvement, risk management, and developing testing strategies for platform capabilities.
Must have:
  • Administer, configure, and optimize data integration platforms.
  • Contribute to the strategic roadmap and evolution of data integration platform landscape.
  • Ensure platform security, compliance, and architectural standards.
  • Monitor platform performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize for scalability.
  • Manage platform capacity planning.
  • Apply DevOps mindset to platform operations, automating deployment and monitoring.
  • Act as a technical advisor, providing guidance and troubleshooting for complex integrations.
  • Adhere to company-wide ITIL processes within a 24/7 support window.
  • Collaborate with data architects to define and enforce data integration platform patterns and standards.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for platform configurations and designs.
  • Provide technical expertise to data integration developers on platform capabilities and best practices.
  • Drive adherence to technical best practices, coding standards, and performance optimization.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to optimize platform-related processes and improve data quality.
  • Identify, analyze, and escalate complex technical risks and issues related to platform stability.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies for platform capabilities and upgrades.
  • Stay abreast of latest trends in data integration platforms, ETL/ELT, and data streaming.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in administration, optimization, and support of enterprise-grade data integration platforms with Kafka expertise.
  • Proven expertise in managing, configuring, and troubleshooting scalable data integration platforms.
  • Good understanding and extensive hands-on experience with OIC, Kong, Fivetran, Boomi, Workato.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and debugging abilities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex technical initiatives.
  • Actively participate in a 24/7 support rotation schedule.
Good to have:
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with DevOps principles and practices in a data platform context.
  • Experience with data governance, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.
  • Experience with performance monitoring and logging tools for data platforms.
  • Fluent in English.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Integration Platform Management & Strategy:
  • Administer, configure, and optimize the integration platform.
  • Contribute to the strategic roadmap and evolution of our data integration platform landscape, evaluating new technologies and features.
  • Ensure the platform's security, compliance, and adherence to enterprise architectural standards.
  • Platform Operations & Optimization:
  • Monitor platform performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for continuous optimization and scalability.
  • Manage platform capacity planning.
  • Apply a strong DevOps mindset to platform operations, actively contributing to the automation of deployment, monitoring, and management tasks (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, GitLab).
  • Operational excellence:
  • Act as a technical advisor, providing guidance and mentorship to support and delivery teams, aiding in deep-dive analysis, and troubleshooting for complex integrations running on the integration platform, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
  • Adhere rigorously to company-wide ITIL processes (incident, change, problem management) within a 24/7 support window, specifically for platform-related incidents.
  • Architecture, Documentation & Standards:
  • Collaborate closely with data architects and other specialists to define, evolve, and enforce data integration platform patterns, security standards, and best practices.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive, high-quality documentation for platform configurations, operational runbooks, and architectural designs.
  • Technical Guidance & Best Practices:
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to data integration developers on leveraging platform capabilities effectively and adhering to best practices for optimal performance and reliability.
  • Drive adherence to technical best practices, coding standards, and performance optimization techniques within the platform's usage.
  • Process Improvement & Innovation:
  • Proactively identify and champion opportunities to optimize platform-related processes, improve efficiency, and enhance data quality through automation, standardization, and the adoption of new tools and technologies within the platform ecosystem.
  • Risk & Issue Management:
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and escalate complex technical risks and issues related to platform stability, security, and performance.
  • Contribute significantly to the development and implementation of robust mitigation strategies.
  • Quality Assurance & Testing Strategy:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies for platform capabilities, upgrades, and new feature deployments, ensuring stability, performance, and adherence to operational requirements.
  • Technical Expertise & Thought Leadership:
  • Stay abreast of and evaluate the latest trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data integration platforms, ETL/ELT tools, data streaming technologies, and cloud data services.
  • Apply relevant innovations to platform strategy and share knowledge with the broader team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in the administration, optimization, and support of complex enterprise-grade data integration platforms with a major expertise in Kafka.
  • Proven expertise in managing, configuring, and troubleshooting highly scalable and performant data integration platforms.
  • Good understanding and extensive hands-on experience with administering and optimizing the following integration and ETL tools: OIC, Kong, Fivetran, Boomi, Workato or willing to master these platforms as well.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and debugging abilities with a meticulous eye for detail and a strong focus on platform stability and data integrity.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence technical discussions and work effectively across diverse teams.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex technical initiatives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Actively participate in a 24/7 support rotation schedule to ensure continuous operational coverage.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong understanding and practical experience with DevOps principles and practices in a data platform context.
  • Experience with data governance, data quality frameworks, and metadata management specifically as it relates to platform capabilities.
