Development Director - Create Audio

EA Create is a collective of content production teams partnering with EA Studios game teams to provide outstanding visuals, audio and technology. Our teams consist of artists, technicians, designers and development directors. Worldwide, we combine our teams to form a global group of extraordinary individuals fueled by imagination and unified to creating amazing visuals, sound and experiences. We are a diverse team, unified through collaboration, culture and craft.

EA Create Audio is an award-winning team creating audio content for numerous titles. We pair creative talent and technical expertise to guide industry-leading audio. There are many exciting projects underway, and we produce progressive audio content for in-game products from multiple studio locations.

What you will do at EA:

We are looking for an experienced Development Director who is passionate about both people and project management. Preferably located at our Motive Montreal studio, you will report to the Development Director 2, responsible for the project work and artists, partnering with project managers to ensure work is delivered on time, meeting quality, and within budget.

You need to excel at:

Leadership and People Management

  • Oversee both project and a team of audio designers day-to-day
  • Identify resourcing needs and scope gaps to build the team (scoping, hiring) to ensure project requirements are met
  • Partner with Audio's Business leader on resource methods to complete projects at scale
  • Coordinate dependencies with external partners
  • Communicate with dev project teams, sharing Create successes, challenges and solutions
  • Build relationships with peers and partners, collaborating to accomplish development goals
  • Provide constructive feedback to audio artists, guiding their career development and progression
  • Lead with transparency and honest conversations
  • Create an inclusive environment and address any conflict on the team
  • Develop positive working relationships with internal and partner teams

Execution

  • Assign tasks that connect to defined project goals
  • Achieve project deliverables by managing multiple teams at a project level (e.g. franchise wide level)
  • Find and address risk to scope or schedule
  • Partner with other Create domains to understand any dependencies that influence or alter established plans

Project Management

  • Maintain the daily project schedule and metrics, based on individual task estimates and aligning with Create's overall project plan
  • Determine the resources needed to meet the task requirements
  • Maintain project budgets, determine task dependencies, and assign tasks to team resources

Requirements:

  • 5+ years project management and team leadership experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of entertainment industry experience (games, film, TV VFX)
  • Work with artists to understand the creative process and its impact on our needs
  • Provide succinct status reports
  • Experience in several project management methodologies, such as Waterfall and Agile, and a familiarity with project management tools (i.e. Jira/Hansoft).

BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):

º $115,100 - $161,200 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
