KTNV, a premier television station in Las Vegas, is seeking an experienced Director to lead newscasts from their automated control room. The role involves directing fast-paced, dynamic broadcasts, mentoring less experienced team members, and ensuring high-quality productions. Responsibilities include directing or technical directing daily newscasts, working with producers on automated show rundowns, directing control room crews for pre-production and graphics, directing other shows and shoots, assisting with studio setups like lighting, and performing other assigned duties. Flexible work hours, including holidays, weekends, evenings, and potential overtime, are required.
Must have:
  • Ability to direct fast-paced productions
  • Working knowledge of video switchers
  • Familiarity with routers and studio equipment
  • Strong computer skills
  • Effective communication and people skills
  • Ability to view multiple monitors
Good to have:
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience
  • Specialized training/certification
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Good driving record

Job Details

Are you ready to lead the control room for one of Las Vegas's premier television stations? KTNV is seeking an experienced Director to lead our newscasts from our automated control room. In this role, you'll direct fast-paced, dynamic broadcasts while mentoring less experienced team members and ensuring our productions maintain the highest quality standards. Join our team and help shape the visual storytelling that keeps Las Vegas viewers informed and engaged.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Direct or technical direct assigned daily newscasts
  • Work with show producers using newsroom computer system to create an integrated automated show rundown
  • Direct control room crew for pre-production, studio shot planning and graphics integration
  • Direct other shows, production shoots and special reports as assigned
  • Assist with studio setups including but not limited to lighting
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Flexible work hours required, including holidays, weekends, evenings and possible overtime hours

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Associates degree in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
  • Specialized training/certification may be required
  • Generally, 5+ years of experience in related field preferred
  • Driving required. Valid Driver's License, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Ability to direct fast-pace rapidly changing productions for extended periods
  • Working knowledge of state-of-the-art video switchers and effects
  • Familiarity with routers, video servers, audio consoles, robotic studio cameras, graphics systems and studio production equipment
  • Strong computer skills
  • Effective communication and people skills
  • Ability to perform constant viewing of multiple video and computer monitors

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
