Job Description

As a Director, Software Development, you will lead and manage a team of IT professionals, including software architects and developers. Your role involves overseeing the development and maintenance of software products, ensuring seamless operations, and timely feature delivery. You will drive performance and operational excellence, collaborate with various stakeholders, and align technology initiatives with business objectives. Responsibilities include project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring projects are on time and within budget, and implementing agile methodologies. You will also focus on team development, infrastructure reliability, and continuous improvement.
Must have:
  • Manage staff of IT professionals including software architects and developers.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of software products.
  • Ensure seamless operations and timely delivery of features.
  • Manage diverse team, engage with stakeholders, drive performance and operational excellence.
  • Ensure team has clear understanding of project goals and context.
  • Collaborate with customer support, product teams, and senior leadership to align technology initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to manage expectations and deliver updates.
  • Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of information technology projects.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Implement best practices for project management and agile methodologies.
  • Set performance goals and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Identify and address skill gaps through training and development programs.
  • Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of technology infrastructure.
  • Implement and monitor operational metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage incident response and problem resolution processes.
  • Make presentations to technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.
  • Experience mentoring junior architects and developers.
  • Presenting and defending software choices to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Leading project delivery efforts: providing feedback, scheduling meetings and feedback, process enhancements.
  • Strong engineering delivery and execution track record, with proven experience around design concepts, development, integration, testing.
  • Software architecture, design experience with transforming software applications into cloud native capabilities.
  • Applying architecture patterns, frameworks in building IT strategies (Archimate, TOGAF).
  • Distributed systems principles and evolving trends (Secure APIs, SaaS, PaaS, Cloud).
  • Creating solution prototypes for software development team.
  • Establish best practices.
  • Project planning and scoping, establishing program governance.

Technical environment: Java, Cassandra, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, Redis; Secure APIs, SaaS, PaaS, Cloud; Archimate, TOGAF; Spring; SQL, NoSQL Databases; AWS, DevOps, SAFe Agile; distributed systems principles and evolving trends (Secure APIs, SaaS, PaaS, Cloud).

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or Computer Engineering or any Engineering field plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or in software architecture/design required. Required Skills: Experience mentoring junior architects & developers; presenting & defending software choices to technical & nontechnical audiences, including executives; leading project delivery efforts: providing feedback, scheduling meetings & feedback, process enhancements; strong engineering delivery and execution track record, with proven experience around design concepts, development, integration, testing; software architecture, design experience with transforming software applications into cloud native capabilities; applying architecture patterns, frameworks in building IT strategies (Archimate, TOGAF); distributed systems principles and evolving trends (Secure APIs, SaaS, PaaS, Cloud); creating solution prototypes for software development team; establish best practices; project planning & scoping, establishing program governance; Java, Cassandra, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, Redis; AWS, DevOps, SAFe Agile. Some telecommuting permitted. (*Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or Computer Engineering or any Engineering field plus 7 years of progressive experience in the job offered or in software architecture/design also acceptable.)

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $202,779/yr. - $222, 560/yr annually. Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan. Certain positions may also be eligible for long-term incentives and other payments based on applicable company guidance and plan documents.
