Pomelo Care is seeking a Doula to join their multi-disciplinary team focused on improving care for mothers and babies. As a doula, you will educate and guide expecting and new families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. You will help improve birth outcomes by ensuring families feel supported and empowered. Pomelo Care offers benefits such as hassle-free insurance acceptance, flexible scheduling, and client outreach support. The role requires completed certification/training, experience as a doula, strong communication skills, comfort with telehealth and electronic documentation, and availability for virtual and in-person work, including evenings and weekends. The credentialing process involves a phone call, verification of certification, NPI number, CPR/First Aid, and liability insurance, along with an OIG background screening. Pomelo Care can also assist with Connecticut state Medicaid enrollment if needed.
Must have:

Pomelo Care is a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, engineers and problem solvers who are passionate about improving care for moms and babies. We are transforming outcomes for pregnant people and babies with evidence-based pregnancy and newborn care at scale. Our technology-driven care platform enables us to engage patients early, conduct individualized risk assessments for poor pregnancy outcomes, and deliver coordinated, personalized virtual care throughout pregnancy, NICU stays, and the first postpartum year. We measure ourselves by reductions in preterm births, NICU admissions, c-sections and maternal mortality; we improve outcomes and reduce healthcare spend.

Role Description

As a doula in the Pomelo network, you will educate and guide expecting and new families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. You will play a vital role in improving birth outcomes by ensuring that families feel supported and empowered during this transformative time. 

By joining the Pomelo community, we’ll help you:

  • Accept insurance hassle-free by credentialing you with the health plans we participate with in your communities and handling the billing and admin paperwork for you.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule as you can choose how many clients you see through Pomelo, so that you can set the hours that work for you.
  • Grow your client base by providing client outreach support.

Grow your doula community, with nearly 600 doulas in the Pomelo network! 

To join Pomelo’s growing community, you are/have: 

  • Completed certification / training as a birth and/or full spectrum doula.
  • Experience working as a doula with in-depth understanding of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to connect with families from diverse backgrounds both virtually and in-person.
  • Comfortable using telehealth platforms, video conferencing tools, and electronic documentation systems.
  • Able to work virtually and in-person, as well as evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs of families.

Credentialing process & potential next steps:
Once you apply, our team will guide you through the credentialing process, which includes:

  • Meet with someone from our recruitment team for a 30 minute phone call
  • Provide proof / verification of:
    • Doula certification / training 
    • NPI number
    • Adult & Infant CPR & First Aid Certification
    • Liability insurance (not required but strongly recommended)
  • Complete an OIG background screening

**Note: If you are not yet enrolled with Connecticut state Medicaid, we can support you through this process**
