As the DRE Airbags Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Oversee integration and testing of the vehicle's restraint sub-system across both new development programs and ongoing model updates.
Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive test and integration plans, including timelines, resource forecasts, and material needs.
Lead the full testing lifecycle—from planning through execution, teardown, reporting, and issue resolution.
Support the creation and continuous improvement of internal engineering specifications in collaboration with Design Release Engineers (DREs).
Apply engineering expertise to extract insights from test data and field issues, sharing learnings with the broader team to foster technical growth.
Ensure timely generation and submission of test reports—aiming for closure and review-ready documents within 24 hours post-test.
Actively participate in maintaining and improving test lab operations, including equipment calibration, organization (6S), and material procurement.
Partner with DREs for restraint and interior components to understand system behavior and drive integrated sub-system development.
Collect and compile test data and documentation into internal databases, conducting initial evaluations and standardizing data entry.
For supplier-led tests, gather all relevant information, perform first-level analysis, and update internal systems accordingly.
Facilitate root cause investigations and corrective actions by coordinating with component owners and technical teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Hands-on experience or solid understanding of automotive restraint systems and/or interior components, ideally gained in an OEM or Tier 1 environment.
Strong problem-solving abilities and sound engineering fundamentals.
Effective communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders such as executives or cross-functional teams.
High standards of professional integrity and ethical conduct.
Physically capable of handling automotive interior components during assembly and testing operations.
Salary Range:$90,000 - $105,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
