Job Description

The DWH Engineer I role at Jumio focuses on optimizing ETL workflows for better system throughput and establishing governance for SQL query design to prevent long-running queries. This ensures an efficient, economical, and scalable operational process. The role involves database administration, performance tuning, security, and collaboration with development teams to maintain and enhance data warehousing systems.
Must have:
  • Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning for queries and indexes.
  • Design, implement, and test backup and recovery strategies for disaster recovery.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize SSIS packages.
  • Implement and maintain database security, manage permissions, and audit activities.
  • Perform database maintenance: index rebuilds, updates, integrity checks, and automate tasks using SQL Server Agent or PowerShell.
  • Diagnose and resolve database issues, provide support to end-users and developers.
  • Monitor database growth, plan for future capacity, and ensure resource availability.
  • Collaborate with development teams on database design and optimization.
  • Document database configurations, maintenance procedures, and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server installation, configuration, and administration.
  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL for writing, debugging, and optimizing queries.
  • Proven track record in troubleshooting and maintaining SSIS Packages.
  • Knowledge of backup/recovery processes and disaster recovery planning.
  • Good understanding of database security principles and access control.
  • Experience automating database maintenance tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Deep understanding of DBA management, data governance & standards.
  • Experience with Azure, SQL Server, Oracle, Post Gre.
  • Strong Verbal, written communication and documentation skills.
Good to have:
  • Practical knowledge of industry frameworks for DBA, such as MS SQL Server Best practices, DAMA.
  • Leveraging AI to build self healing capabilities.
  • Automated Error Handling and self heal.
  • Self Optimization.
  • Analyze historical data and predicts future trends enabling proactive adjustments to ETL process.

Job Details

DWH Engineer I

Role Purpose: The role is to bring in best standards towards bringing the orchestration of several ETL workflows that gets created over time, but would need to be optimised for better throughput of the system resources. Also to bring in the governance on SQL query design and kill/terminate long running queries consuming system specs thereby enabling an efficient operational process, economical to maintain and scale

Example Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in deep understanding of DBA management, data governance & standards, and associated technologies (Azure, SQL Server, Oracle, Post Gre)
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server installation, configuration, and administration
  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL for writing, debugging, and optimizing queries.
  • Proven track record in troubleshooting and maintaining SSIS Packages.
  • Knowledge of backup/recovery processes and disaster recovery planning.
  • Good understanding of database security principles and access control.
  • Experience automating database maintenance tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
