Job Description

Tesla's Motor Design team in Athens, Greece seeks an Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design and development of actuators for the Tesla Bot. Responsibilities include developing advanced MATLAB functions for humanoid powertrain performance modeling, enhancing actuator system optimization functions, processing large datasets to select optimal actuator candidates, and ensuring motor modeling accuracy aligns with experimental data. This role requires strong motor EM design knowledge, electromagnetics and circuits understanding, proficiency in MATLAB, and a solid mathematical and physics background. Experience with optimization fundamentals, power electronics, thermodynamics, and various modeling techniques are beneficial.

What to Expect
Tesla’s Motor Design team designs and builds bespoke electric motors for various applications. Following our track record in traction motors, the team works towards designing actuators for humanoid bi-pedal robots (Tesla Bot), improving motor modeling accuracy, and developing test plans for performing measurements in the dyno lab. This person will be working as part of the Tesla Motor Technology team located in Athens, Greece, towards improving Powertrain Modeling and System Optimization for the Tesla Bot.
What You’ll Do
  • Responsible for developing advanced MATLAB functions to model humanoid powertrain performance, contributing to a multi-physics modeling codebase
  • Develop new and enhance existing actuator system optimization functions based on multiple criteria
  • Process big data, select the most compelling actuator candidates and visualize the results
  • Responsible for motor modeling accuracy for Tesla Bot actuators, ensuring alignment with experimental data
What You’ll Bring
  • Studies in Electrical Engineering0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of Motor EM Design
  • Very good understanding of electromagnetics and electric circuits
  • Strong mathematical and physics background
  • Strong MATLAB programming skills
  • Fluency in English
  • The following will be considered as plus: Understanding of optimization fundamentals; Power electronics and control fundamentals; Understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer; Understanding of electrical, thermal and mechanical modeling; Understanding of electrical measurements
