Job Description

Lead an innovative, fast-moving development organization focused on working with third-party partners to deliver Network Video Recorders (NVRs) and video appliances. Contribute to the creation and execution of the product roadmap, driving continuous improvement in the development process. Ensure product delivery meets scope, budget, and time schedules, while managing team resources and fostering a healthy, collaborative culture. This role involves people management, including coaching, feedback, and career development.
Must have:
  • Lead development of NVRs and video appliances with third-party partners.
  • Contribute to and execute on the product roadmap.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the development process.
  • Lead efforts for product delivery, meeting scope, budget, and time schedules.
  • Manage resource requirements for the team.
  • Foster a healthy and collaborative culture.
  • Perform people management duties (coaching, feedback, assessments, objective setting, career development, recruiting, hiring).
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively within product development and with peers.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading high performing development teams.
  • B.Sc degree in a technical related discipline.
  • Proven track record in bringing volume hardware products to market and managing their lifecycle.
  • Experience with product design and release lifecycle for Linux- and Windows-based products.
  • Experience in managing or contributing to all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Good understanding of PC hardware and components.
  • Experience working with global hardware partners and collaboration with global software development teams.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, planning, problem solving and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to USA, Taiwan and rest of the world.
Good to have:
  • Security industry experience.
  • Experience with Video Management Software and Hardware.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability principles.

Motorola Video analytics platforms allow our users to proactively monitor their premises using advanced video analytics and high resolution / high quality video.

We are looking to hire a dynamic leader for our Video Appliances team. This high performance team is responsible for working with third parties in the development of our Network Video Recorders, Video and AI appliances. Your responsibilities will include defining the products that we will be including on our roadmap, helping to select and manage our OEM/ODM partners as well as managing the team. The successful candidate will be a results oriented professional who continually strives for excellence. Energetic, enthusiastic, and exuding a positive “can-do” attitude, the successful candidate must have strong analytical, product development, technical skills and possess strong leadership qualities.

Job Description

This position is based in Vancouver, BC and the candidate must reside in the Greater Vancouver Area as you will be required to go into the office on a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead an innovative, fast moving development organization that is focused on working with third party partners, in an OEM or ODM capacity, to deliver Network Video Recorders (NVRs) and video appliances
  • Contribute to the creation of, and execute on, the product roadmap
  • Drive for continuous improvement of the development process, looking to improve efficiency wherever possible
  • Lead efforts for product delivery ensuring that project scope, budget, and time schedules are met
  • Manage resource requirements for the team including the ability to scale the team as necessary
  • Foster a healthy and collaborative culture that embodies Motorola’s values and continue to develop Motorola as one of the best places to work
  • People Management – lead by example; coach your staff; provide them timely feedback, performance assessments, objective setting and career development plan; recruiting and hiring; and disciplinary action as required
  • Leadership – communicate and collaborate effectively within product development and with peers across Motorola on our objectives, strategic direction, roadmap, project deliverables & details, schedules, and milestones

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading high performing development teams
  • B.Sc degree in a technical related discipline
  • Proven track record in bringing volume hardware products to market and managing their lifecycle
  • Experience with product design and release lifecycle for Linux- and Windows-based products, collaborating across HW/SW engineering, QA and product management teams
  • Experience in managing or contributing to all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • Good understanding of PC hardware and components; from embedded size, to desktop, to rack scale
  • Experience working with global hardware partners and collaboration with global software development teams
  • Able to think beyond area of control/domain to do what is right for Avigilon Unity and the greater Motorola
  • Positive outlook; hard charging, passionate and energetic
  • Strong leadership and management skills, leading by example, driving employee commitment through actions, empowering employees to reach their full potential
  • Strong critical thinking skills, planning, problem solving and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exhibit integrity and clearly set expectations for integrity in others
  • Be able and willing to travel from time to time to USA, Taiwan and rest of the world

Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience:

  • Security industry experience
  • Experience with Video Management Software and Hardware
  • Experience with design for manufacturability principles and what is required to efficiently introduce new products into a scale production manufacturing operation

Target Base Salary Range: 145,000 - 175,000 CAD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
