Apple's Hardware Engineering team is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead internal software applications development. This role involves driving strategic planning, improving cross-functional alignment, and strengthening senior-level stakeholder communication. The Project Manager will oversee end-to-end project delivery, manage risks, and ensure predictable, high-quality software delivery by bridging business stakeholders and the tools engineering team, guiding product vision, and prioritizing features.
Must have:
  • Lead large-scale, cross-functional programs, driving the end-to-end delivery of customer-facing software and services; from strategy and planning through deployment and post-launch support.
  • Drive alignment across teams by shaping program goals, managing dependencies, and influencing product direction to ensure priorities support business objectives.
  • Collaborate with functional leads to manage resources, risks, and interdependencies, while ensuring key plans (e.g., QA, user communications) are defined, tracked, and executed.
  • Own project documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication to ensure visibility, accountability, and informed decision-making across teams.
  • Apply structured problem-solving and critical thinking to resolve conflicts, navigate ambiguity, and drive execution in a dynamic environment.
  • Champion continuous improvement by advancing PMO processes, supporting change management, and driving better execution quality and strategic alignment.
  • 5+ years of Engineering Project Management expertise of customer facing applications and technologies.
  • Proven ability to manage web-based application projects through the full lifecycle, with strong planning capabilities, organizational skills, cross-functional collaboration and process optimization.
  • Tactical experience implementing projects using Agile methodologies across distributed teams.
  • Able to quickly grasp complex ideas and resolve conflicts across cross-functional teams (engineers, designers, etc.), fostering collaboration and maintaining project momentum
Good to have:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent work experience.
  • PMI and/or Agile Project Management certifications is a plus.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with vendors, ensuring clear communication, alignment on goals, and regular progress updates to drive successful collaboration.
  • Focus on software development metrics collection and analysis to drive data-informed decision-making and improve project outcomes.

Job Details

Hardware Engineering is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to oversee internal software applications development. We’re looking for an individual with a strong foundation in core project management practices and a proven ability to operate in complex, fast-paced environments. This role will be critical in driving strategic planning, improving cross-functional alignment, and strengthening senior-level stakeholder communication.

The position requires an experienced project manager with strong ownership of end-to-end project delivery—including tracking progress against milestones, managing risks and mitigation plans, and driving structured communication across stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings experience in software development, excels at building and maintaining clear roadmaps, and can break down complex or ambiguous work into actionable plans—ensuring predictable, high-quality delivery. This role bridges business stakeholders and our tools engineering team, acting as the primary liaison between groups while guiding product vision and prioritizing features for development. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Design, QA, and partner teams to ensure timely delivery of initiatives while navigating complex stakeholder dynamics. A key part of the role is proactively identifying timeline risks and presenting well-formed mitigation paths. You must be comfortable going deep into project details, aligning diverse perspectives, and confidently communicating status and trade-offs to executive leadership.
