Summary: As a Mechanical Engineering Practitioner, you will design, analyze, and build structures, machines, devices, systems, and mechanical processes. A strategic aerospace engineering leader specializing in rotary wing platforms, with a strong track record in driving technical delivery, innovation, and client satisfaction. Experienced in shaping engineering processes, delivery governance, and team capability development. Proven ability to influence design and compliance strategies through direct engagement with OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, and regulatory bodies. Passionate about digital transformation, with a focus on advancing MBSE, MBD, and digital continuity across the product lifecycle. Roles & Responsibilities: • Design and develop primary and secondary structural components—both metallic and composite—for rotary-wing aircraft, ensuring compliance with airworthiness regulations, structural integrity requirements, and OEM-specific design standards. • Apply advanced aircraft structural design principles, including detailed load path analysis, optimal material selection based on stress and environmental conditions, and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) considerations. • Development and evaluation of multiple structural design concepts through detailed trade-off analyses. • Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using Siemens NX, adhering to industry and customer-specific modelling and drafting standards. • Prepare and manage detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring traceability, version control, and configuration accuracy via PLM tools such as Teamcenter. • Perform weight estimation, tracking, and control across all design phases, ensuring alignment with weight budgets and performance criteria. • Incorporate Model-Based Definition (MBD) techniques to drive downstream manufacturing and inspection processes directly from 3D models. • Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices by validating design requirements and verifying that the structural models align with system-level functional and physical requirements. • Analyse engineering requirements and translate them into manufacturable, certifiable solutions, delivering outputs with minimal rework and within defined project timelines. • Collaborate and lead cross-functionally with stress analysis, manufacturing, quality, and systems teams; actively engage in design reviews, issue resolution, and integration discussions. Act as the primary technical interface with the client, ensuring alignment on design objectives and deliverables. • Evaluate complex design challenges using simulation feedback and stakeholder inputs to propose technically sound, cost-effective, and certifiable design solutions. • Support and mentor junior team members by providing technical guidance, sharing best practices, and fostering their growth in design methodologies, tools, and domain knowledge. Actively contributes to skill development, knowledge transfer, and team capability building through hands-on support and constructive feedback. Professional & Technical Skills: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BE/M.Tech) in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering. • 12 to 15 years of practical experience in the Aerostructures domain, preferably with exposure to rotary-wing aircraft platforms and full design cycle involvement. • In-depth understanding of aircraft load-bearing structures, with focus on structural integrity, stiffness, and load path optimization under both static and dynamic conditions. • Strong awareness of stress analysis considerations, including fatigue, damage tolerance, and failure modes relevant to metallic and composite airframe components. • Practical knowledge of production tooling design, jigs & fixtures, and their influence on design tolerances, datum schemes, and manufacturability. • Familiar with assembly line constraints, ergonomic considerations, and sequence planning to ensure seamless integration in high-rate production environments. • Proficient in configuration management principles, including part lifecycle management, engineering change control, version tracking, and release processes via PLM systems such as Teamcenter. • Expertise in 3D/2D modelling and detailing of structural components (machined, sheet metal, and composite) using Siemens NX. Knowledge on CATIA V5 is plus. • Strong understanding of load path optimization, stress inputs, fatigue and damage tolerance, and design-for-certification. • Familiarity with airworthiness regulations (e.g., CS-27/29, FAR 23/25), OEM design standards, and FAA/EASA certification processes. • Advanced proficiency in Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and other PLM/PDM tools. Working knowledge of CATIA V5, VPM, or ENOVIA is a plus. • Solid grasp of GD&T, ASME Y14.5, and industry drawing standards. • Experience managing design-to-cost, design-to-weight, and sustainability considerations across the design lifecycle. • Exposure to digital twin strategy, systems architecture alignment, and model validation in a systems-engineering context. • Proficient in Siemens NX and Teamcenter is essential. Experience in CATIA V5, VPM, ENOVIA, or similar tools is a strong plus. • Familiarity with digital engineering ecosystems, including MBD/MBSE implementation, PLM workflows, and engineering change management. • Technically strong and solution-oriented, with the ability to guide teams through ambiguity and complexity. • Proven experience in technical team leadership, task planning, design reviews, and decision-making across program phases. • Strong communication and client engagement skills; able to articulate design rationale and negotiate technical outcomes with stakeholders. • Committed to mentoring junior engineers and contributing to organizational knowledge development and delivery excellence. • Strategic thinker with a continuous improvement mindset, especially in design quality, process optimization, and engineering best practices. • Proven experience in design and integration of rotary-wing and/or fixed-wing aircraft structures across end-to-end design lifecycle phases. • Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross-functional teams—including design, stress analysis, manufacturing, and quality—within complex delivery frameworks for aerostructure development programs. • Additional certifications in project management (PMP/Prince2), Six Sigma, or Digital Engineering are advantageous. Additional Information: - The candidate should have a minimum of 12 - 15 years of practical experience in the Aerostructures domain, preferably with exposure to rotary-wing aircraft platforms and full design cycle involvement. - This position is based at client location Bengaluru and 6 days a workweek requiring 8 working hours per day and The role is strictly on-site and requires physical presence at the client’s office in Bangalore. .- A B Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace engineering is required
