Marvell's Custom Compute & Storage (CCS) BU develops high-performance data processing silicon platforms for Carrier, Cloud/Enterprise, and Automotive Compute markets. As a principal hardware and silicon FPGA validation engineer, you will deliver high-speed products, validating Custom Compute and Storage products, including digital logic and analog silicon. This role involves developing FPGA prototypes for pre-silicon validation, defining test requirements, executing validation plans, debugging issues with designers, and providing technical documentation. You will work with cutting-edge technologies, ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of MRVL Custom ASIC products, playing a central role in rapid production ramps for hyper-scaler customers.
Must have:
  • Develop and Design FPGA prototype for Pre-Silicon Validation.
  • Define test requirement and review customized hardware boards.
  • Develop the validation plan and execute it in a timely manner.
  • Work with designers to debug, understand and document any issues.
  • Learn and leverage product and system knowledge to spot potential bugs.
  • Provide technical documentation and relevant information.
  • Write, review, and maintain software used to automate testing.
  • Understanding board schematic and involve in designing of custom PCB.
  • Proficiency in FPGA prototyping and/or Pre and Post silicon validation of mixed signal/analog/digital ICs/transceivers.
  • Solid Design/VHDL/C/Python development skills.
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing.
  • Adept in handling different Pre-Silicon validation platform platforms like FPGA HAPS, Zebu, Palladium.
  • Good understanding of embedded FW development, and knowledge of micro-processor or SOC architecture.

By delivering a stream of technical innovations through a diverse set of fast‐growing product lines, Marvell technology is powering the next‐generation data processing and workload acceleration platforms for the Carrier, Cloud/Enterprise and Automotive Compute market segments. The team focusses on the Custom ASIC business, Cloud AI solutions & Enterprise/Career solutions including the CXL product line.

As the principal hardware and silicon FPGA validation engineer at Marvell, you’ll be helping to deliver high speed/bandwidth products. This team performs validations of Custom Compute and Storage products. We also validate digital logic and Analog implementation of silicon This is a niche area at Marvell, working with cutting edge technologies used by many internal and external customers around the world. This team plays a central role in Marvell, ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our MRVL Custom ASIC products. This role begins early in the design process and is central to enabling the rapid production ramps and demands of our hyper-scaler customers.

What You Can Expect

  • Develop and Design FPGA prototype for Pre-Silicon Validation. Understand the system and block level design and develop RTL for Pre-Silicon platforms.
  • Define test requirement and review customized hardware boards to integrate with pre/post validation silicon platform.
  • Develop the validation plan and execute it in a timely manner using standard test equipment such as oscilloscope, Network Analyzers, in-house tools.
  • Work with designers to debug, understand and document any issues that may arise during validation and do a root cause analysis with help from designer and drive to closure.
  • Learn and leverage product and system knowledge to spot potential bugs and weaknesses in design so they can be fixed ahead of tape out.
  • Provide technical documentation and relevant information to Field Application Engineers, Test Engineers, Customers, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Write, review, and maintain software used to automate testing. Generate professional documentation and validation reports.
  • Understanding board schematic and involve in designing of custom PCB required for FPGA hardware solutions to enable pre-silicon validation.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related fields and 12-17 years of related professional experience OR master’s degree in electrical engineering or related fields with 10-15 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in FPGA prototyping and/or Pre and Post silicon validation of mixed signal/analog/digital ICs/transceivers and similar blocks is required.
  • Solid Design/VHDL/C/Python development skills Knowledge of digital signal processing is required.
  • Must be adept in handling different Pre-Silicon validation platform platforms like FPGA HAPS, Zebu, Palladium etc.
  • A good understanding of embedded FW development, and knowledge of micro-processor or SOC architecture is a must.
  • Experience in DDR, PCIE, NVME, flash, different semiconductor components, DDR is a plus.
  • Able to work across disciplines and manage time across several demands.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
