CAE, a global leader in aviation training, is seeking a Group Leader of Compliance & Support Services for its new training center in Las Vegas, Nevada. This role involves directing regulatory compliance, managing approvals for Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs), and liaising with National Aviation Authorities. CAE is a leader in modelling, simulation, and training for civil aviation, with a vast network of training locations worldwide, serving airlines, operators, and manufacturers to enhance safety, efficiency, and readiness.
Must have:
  • Direct the preparation and submission of regulatory agency applications, reports, or correspondence.
  • Maintain and manage all regulatory and national aviation authority (NAA) approvals for assigned Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs).
  • Direct documentation efforts to ensure compliance with domestic and international regulations and standards.
  • Liaise, coordinate, and communicate with National Aviation Authorities (FAA, EASA, and others), internal stakeholders, and external stakeholders regarding regulatory quality assurance and safety matters.
  • Oversee the installation, modification, and software maintenance of all flight training devices in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate daily activities, work assignments, and future projects to provide effective flight training devices and minimize customer impact.
  • Maintain certification compliance to the highest industry standards.
  • Provide guidance related to NAA FSTD certification.
  • Provide overall staff guidance and direction to ensure that equipment regulatory compliance supports company and departmental goals.
  • Exercise judgment and initiative in interpreting regulatory standards, requirements, and corporate policies in the planning and implementation of major work assignments.
  • Manage resolution of engineering issues related to full flight simulators.
  • Ensure improvement of processes related to core activities of the engineering staff and training center.
  • Monitor simulator software discrepancies and ensure that discrepancies are prioritized and corrected in a timely manner.
  • Manage Qualification Test Guides (QTGs) and identify potential training restrictions stemming from QTG Out of Tolerance.
  • Evaluate new simulator software and confer with regulatory agencies concerning news or updates on electronic publishing of QTGs submissions.
  • Participate in the proposal technical response process by recommending solutions, writing technical sections, and providing cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with other staff personnel to obtain parts and assistance necessary for flight engineering services to be provided in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Review the work of more junior staff members to ensure that regulatory standards are met and regulatory compliance documents are clear, concise, and correct.
  • Train staff in regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures or local working practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Aircraft Systems, Aviation, Electrical Engineering, Technology, or a related field.
  • 2 years of related work experience in flight simulation or aerospace.
  • Experience working with National Aviation Authorities.
  • Experience complying with FSTD regulations, including Part 60, Part 142, CS-FSTD, and ICAO 9625.
  • Experience identifying and resolving missing, malfunctioning, or inoperative (MMI) components in a FSTD.
  • Experience managing flight training center operations oriented for business aviation pilots.
  • Experience managing resolution of engineering issues related to full flight simulators.
  • Experience managing Qualification Test Guides (QTGs) and identifying possible training restrictions related to QTG Out of Tolerance.
  • Experience developing and maintaining standard operating procedures or local working practices in line with National Aviation Authorities’ requirements for Flight Training Centers.
  • Experience directing the preparation and submission of regulatory agency applications, reports, or correspondence.
  • Experience representing an organization before domestic or international regulatory agencies during initial and recurrent certification of Full Flight Simulator devices.

Job Duties:

Minimum Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Aircraft Systems, Aviation, Electrical Engineering, Technology, or a related field, and 2 years of related work experience.

Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience with the following:

  • Working in the field of flight simulation or aerospace
  • Working with National Aviation Authorities
  • Complying with FSTD regulations, including Part 60, Part 142, CS-FSTD, and ICAO 9625
  • Identifying and resolving missing, malfunctioning, or inoperative (MMI) components in a FSTD
  • Managing flight training center operations oriented for business aviation pilots

Additional Notes:

Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day a week, depending on business need.

Travel to various locations throughout the US required up to 10%.
