We are seeking a results-driven Hardware Quality Engineer to join our operations team. This role is critical for ensuring our consumer electronics meet high quality and reliability standards across the entire product lifecycle, from design validation to mass production. Responsibilities include in-line process quality, supplier quality, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement, requiring strong collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Contract Manufacturers.
Must have:
  • Own end-to-end hardware quality assurance for consumer electronics
  • Develop and implement quality control plans and test protocols
  • Drive failure analysis and root cause investigations (CAPA)
  • Monitor and improve in-line process quality with Manufacturing Engineers and CMs
  • Define product quality KPIs and report to leadership
  • Support product reliability testing and validation
  • Ensure Design for Quality (DFQ) principles are embedded
  • Participate in factory audits, quality reviews, and supplier evaluations
  • Drive continuous improvement using 8D, FMEA, SPC, Six Sigma

About the Role

We are seeking a results-driven Hardware Quality Engineer to join our growing operation team. As a Hardware Quality Engineer, you will be the critical link between product design, manufacturing, and customer experience—ensuring our consumer electronics products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. You will lead quality efforts across the entire product lifecycle, from early design validation through production ramp and sustained manufacturing. Your responsibilities will span in-line process quality, supplier quality, and product-level performance, with a strong focus on root cause analysis, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement. This is a highly cross-functional role requiring close collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Contract Manufacturers to build scalable and robust quality systems that support both rapid development cycles and mass production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end hardware quality assurance for consumer electronics from NPI to mass production.

Develop and implement quality control plans, inspection criteria, and test protocols for both incoming materials and finished goods.

  • Drive failure analysis and root cause investigations for issues identified in production lines and in the field; follow through with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Partner with Manufacturing Engineers and CMs to monitor and improve in-line process quality (e.g., yield, rework rates, DPMO, first pass yield).

  • Define product quality KPIs and report regularly to leadership on quality status, risks, and continuous improvement opportunities.

Support product reliability testing, validation, and qualification activities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure Design for Quality (DFQ) principles are embedded early in the product design cycle.
  • Participate in factory audits, quality reviews, and supplier evaluations to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement through structured methodologies (e.g., 8D, FMEA, SPC, Six Sigma).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering roles within the consumer electronics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including SMT, FATP, and test engineering.
  • Experience working with offshore contract manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as IPC, ISO 9001, and reliability standards (e.g., HALT/HASS, ORT).
  • Proficient in quality tools and methods such as FMEA, 8D, DOE, SPC, and control plans.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical mindset, and strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
  • Fluent in English; Mandarin proficiency is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in or collaborating with startup companies, with demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and rapid change.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and managing product documents across global teams.
  • Experience supporting regulatory and quality audits (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485).
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Mandarin is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with quality data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Python) is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CQE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt are highly desirable.
