This senior leadership role is responsible for setting the creative bar, evolving our brand expression, and leading a high-performing team of designers, ACDs, and external agencies.

The Head of Design will own the strategic and visual direction for U.S. brand campaigns and customer engagement across the full marketing funnel—from top-of-funnel awareness work to lower-funnel performance and CRM creative. This individual will be a critical bridge between business strategy and world-class design execution, driving cohesive storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences and reflects the outstanding culture of each vertical.

This is a rare opportunity to lead brand-defining creative at one of the world’s most iconic marketplaces—one that sits at the intersection of community, commerce, and culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end creative development process for U.S. brand marketing, across verticals such as Fashion, Collectibles, Luxury, Electronics, and beyond.
  • Set the creative vision and design standards across the team, ensuring consistency, excellence, taste, brand and creative strategy, and innovation across all customer touchpoints.
  • Oversee a team of designers and ACDs providing mentorship, feedback, and support to help each vertical bring its brand to life with impact and clarity.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Merchandising, Category Management, Product, and Executive partners to align creative work with strategic business goals.
  • Guide the development of coordinated campaigns that span brand awareness, social, editorial, CRM, performance marketing, and experiential activations.
  • Act as the primary design leader for internal and external agency relationships—ensuring strong briefing, strategic alignment, and creative quality across all workstreams.
  • Shape and evolve brand expression across media formats including digital video, display, paid and organic social, email, landing pages, and events.
  • Elevate design thinking throughout the organization—instilling a culture of craft, curiosity, and customer-centered storytelling.
  • Monitor performance insights, category trends, and customer feedback to inform design strategy and creative evolution.
  • Represent the Creative team in senior-level conversations and cross-functional planning; help define future team structure, hiring needs, and growth areas.
  • Foster a team environment that is both professional and collaborative. Shape stewards of the brand through your leadership, ensuring that our partners experience consistent, confident communication and constructive creative dialogue across all engagements.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of creative leadership experience, including at least 4 years in a senior design or ACD/CD-level role, ideally within e-commerce, lifestyle, fashion, or tech
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary or design teams across campaign development, brand storytelling, and performance content
  • Expertise in visual and verbal brand systems, with a strong point of view on how design and copy come together to form cohesive creative experiences
  • Proficiency in category-specific storytelling, with a focus on fashion, collectibles, sneakers, and luxury
  • Demonstrated success managing creative agencies, freelancers, and in-house teams from concept through final production
  • Ability to lead, encourage, and grow high-performing creative talent with empathy and clarity
  • Sharp creative instincts with the ability to balance brand building with data-driven optimization
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and partner management skills, including experience influencing senior leadership
  • A compelling portfolio that showcases innovative, customer-first creative across channels and categories
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Design, Art Direction, Communication, or related field preferred
