The Equity Index Management (IM) team at FTSE Russell Operations is seeking an Index Analyst. This global team supports FTSE Russell Index and Benchmark Solutions by calculating and producing index data products distributed in real-time and end-of-day. The role involves daily management of the FTSE Russell index/product portfolio, including data management, corporate action and event management, constituent portfolio management, and client content production. The team operates on a "follow the sun" model across multiple time zones. The position requires flexibility with working hours, potentially including public holidays, weekends, and extended hours to meet business deadlines. Responsibilities include completing daily production checklists, supporting quarterly rebalance processes, researching and analyzing corporate actions' impact on indexes, maintaining stock information, escalating issues, monitoring real-time indexes, resolving client queries, and recommending process improvements. The analyst will also participate in projects, ensure task completion per procedures, and contribute to training new team members. Collaboration across global teams is encouraged.

Job Details

This role sits within the FTSE Russell Operations team, supporting FTSE Russell Index and Benchmark Solutions within the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).  The Equity Index Management (IM) team has members in the Americas, EMEA and APAC, whose responsibility is to calculate and produce index data products and values that are distributed on a real-time and day end basis. The index management team calculates in excess of 1 million indices and distributes over 20,000 data products daily!

The IM team are ultimately responsible for the daily management of the FTSE Russell index / product portfolio, specifically the data management, corporate action & event management, constituent portfolio management and the production of client content.  It is a global group, with teams in Fort Mill, San Jose, London, Milan, Taipei, Hong Kong & Bangalore.  The group operates a “follow the sun model” with work as a single team across the different time-zones. 

Please note that the working hours for this position can vary as the business needs require.  This means that public holidays, weekend work, extended hours and market holiday coverage can and will be expected to meet critical business deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

As a member of the Index Management team, the individual will be responsible for the support/assisting of the day-to-day management of the FTSE Russell Indexes and Products. Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Completion of daily FTSE Russell production checklists including creating and checking FTSE Russell Products, to strict deadlines as assigned by your line manager.

  • Supporting the quarterly rebalance process of indexes and/or the associated implementation of any changes, in accordance with review schedule.

  • Using all available data sources including data vendors, stock exchanges and regulatory filings to research and analyze corporate actions and the respective impact on the FTSE Russell indexes.  Detailed research and analysis of corporate event information and compilation of client notifications.

  • Maintain and update stock information and other required data in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring the highest quality to FTSE Russell data.

  • Escalate any issues/concerns to the line manager and report exceptions in a timely manner.

  • Accurate monitoring of FTSE Russell real time indexes and timely resolution of issues

  • Timely investigation and resolution of any client queries relevant to your role and areas of expertise.

  • Highlight and recommend process improvements to your line manager that will improve the levels of quality, productivity & client service.

  • Participate in projects or initiatives as needed such as writing procedures.

  • Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with your checklist(s) and procedure(s).

  • Strive to constantly improve your skills through training & development.

  • Support the onboarding of new business to the team.

  • Actively contribute to the training and onboarding of new team members.

  • Promote teamwork and collaboration across teams (including other offices), actively encouraging interaction and providing assistance to others where required.

Candidate Profile / Key Skills

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • It is expected that with limited supervision the individual will deliver each of the key objectives of the role identified above, working to strict deadlines and to the highest degree of accuracy.  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Experience within the financial industry, ideally working with corporate actions and company data.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of global financial markets and products, incorporating indexes, is essential.

  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and manage workloads effectively in a pressured environment.

  • A proven track record for achievement in delivering a high quality service.
