Job Description

The Lead Financial Strategist, Revenue will lead revenue forecasting and modeling for Mozilla, including process management, communication, and reporting. This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate revenue reporting and forecasting. Responsibilities include building and maintaining financial models, expanding modeling capabilities for strategic decision-making, and influencing revenue and operational performance measurements. The ideal candidate will develop creative solutions to strategic problems, deliver their work in a compelling format, and balance big-picture thinking with outstanding attention to detail. They will also partner/form relationships so that models articulate new products and release impacts, especially fine-tuning timing expectations between current investments and future revenue. The position involves leading frequent ad hoc projects to support management and business decisions.

About this team and role:

Mozilla Finance is responsible for strategic prioritization and day-to-day financial operations as Mozilla scales its mission impact with new and existing products, technology, and business models to better serve users and advance our goal of a healthier internet.

We are seeking a hardworking Strategic Financial Revenue Specialist to lead our revenue forecasting and modeling function. This role will be responsible for key deliverables to senior leadership and will oversee developing cross-functional business partnerships, leading special projects, improving processes, financial reporting, and assisting with implementing business intelligence tools.

To succeed, you will need to develop creative solutions to abstract strategic problems, deliver your work in a compelling format, and balance big-picture thinking with outstanding attention to detail.

What you’ll do: 

  • Leadership of revenue forecasts and planning processes for Mozilla, including process management, communication, and reporting
  • Strong partnership collaboration with DRIs, cross-functional teams, FP&A and analytics teams to ensure timely and accurate revenue and contribution margin reporting, as well as forecasts and plans (annual and LRP)
  • Build and maintain a library of financial models used to evaluate the impact of investment opportunities, inclusive of market sizing
  • Expand financial modeling capabilities to increase the efficiency and accuracy of FP&A's forecast and guide our strategic decision-making on key revenue/margin driver outputs
  • Influence revenue and operational performance measurements such as Churn, LTV, CAC return on investment, EBITDA, etc., along with enterprise standards for their calculation
  • Lead frequent ad hoc projects to support management and business decisions

What you’ll bring: 

  • 7-10+ years of related experience, specifically developing Search, SaaS, and Advertising models, inclusive of collecting/maintaining model data
  • Understanding of revenue recognition principles, including Tax & Foreign Currency considerations in a tiered pricing subscription structure
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently as well as within and across functional teams
  • Ability to partner/form relationships so that models articulate new products and release impacts, especially fine-tuning timing expectations between current investments and future revenue
  • Proven understanding of programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL
  • Experience with business intelligence dashboarding tools such as Tableau, Looker, or similar BI tools is required
  • Experience telling stories with data and creatively approaching complexities.
