Job Description

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Rolls-Royce, you will be responsible for developing manufacturing processes for Castbond components, including 5-axis high-speed milling, EDM, laser, pECM, diffusion bonding, and GOM inspection. You will create full technical documentation packages, provide project management for manufacturing engineering projects, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Furthermore, you will ensure manufacturing processes meet statistical process capability requirements and act as Technical Authority for processes. You will also manage project activities and collaborate with local and business experts. The role involves self-development and providing coaching/support to others.
Must have:
  • Develop manufacturing processes for Castbond components

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - Castbond

Working Pattern: 9/80 Hybrid

Working location:  Indianapolis, IN

A new opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer. As a Manufacturing Engineer for Rolls-Royce, you’ll provide technical support and project management for the development of new manufacturing processes to progress through Technology Readiness (TRL) Level gates.

What you will be doing

With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop manufacturing processes for Castbond components. Castbond processes include 5-axis high speed milling, EDM, laser, pECM, diffusion bonding, and GOM inspection

  • Create the full technical documentation package for Castbond manufacturing processes -- MVA, Routing, Technical Instructions, NX Models/Drawings, NC programs

  • Provide project management for Castbond manufacturing engineering projects

  • Ensure processes are in full compliance to Health, Safety, and Environment standards

  • Ensure manufacturing processes are capable of achieving statistical process capability requirements

  • Act as Technical Authority for processes within area of accountability. Act at MEA where applicable.

  • Plan, manage, and communicate project activities including schedules, resources, costs, and timelines.

  • Work with local experts and business experts to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes and digital systems are understood and accounted for as required. Capture and utilize lessons learnt. Identify, document and share best practice, including by participation in relevant Communities of Practice.

  • Responsible for self development to meet the required competencies for the role. Continuously seek to expand knowledge and experience to increase effectiveness in undertaking existing and new activities. Provides coaching and technical support to others within their area of competence.

Basic Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Engineering with 4+ years’ experience working in Manufacturing Engineering

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Engineering with 2+ years’ experience working in Manufacturing Engineering

  • Masters’ degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Engineering with 0+ years’ experience working in Manufacturing Engineering

  • In lieu of degree, 6+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering

  • To be considered for this opportunity you must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to get DoD security clearance, confidential

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with multiple machining disciplines (e.g; turning, milling, drilling, grinding)

  • Experience with Teamcenter, Siemens NX modelling, drafting and manufacturing, and Vericut

  • Experience with Fixed Process Control, Method Verifications, FAIr, Aerospace Manufacturing Standards

  • Experience with non-conformance management, root-cause analysis, mini-tab, and standardized problem-solving tools

  • Experience with process control implementation through production system tools, such as, PFMEA, control plans, control limits, etc.

Pay Range

$90,985 - $136,477

Relocation assistance is available for this position.
