Guardian is seeking a Market Risk Manager to join its Risk team. This role will support all facets of liquidity and economic capital risk management, serving as a resource to the Guardian enterprise and driving awareness and understanding of these disciplines. Key stakeholders include Investments, Corporate Actuarial, Financial Protection & Retirement Solutions, and Treasury. The ideal candidate is an organized, analytical thinker with deep intellectual curiosity surrounding investments, insurance products, and economic capital regimes.
Must have:
  • Build a process for Guardian to compute internal and regulatory liquidity coverage ratios on a legal entity basis
  • Monitor funding agreement backed note (FABN) program, and associated utilization of FHLB funding
  • Work to embed key liquidity and economic capital metrics into Guardian’s enterprise Risk Appetite framework, as well as ‘Journey to 30’ enterprise financial planning process
  • Build a library of assumptions embedded in Guardian’s economic capital models
  • Operationalize the consumption and analysis of data from the Enginuity economic capital model
  • Drive integration of economic capital into business decision making and enterprise capital allocation
  • 5-10 years of experience in the life insurance industry
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Good to have:
  • Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or other quantitative discipline
  • CFA charter holder and FSA
  • Experience with economic capital regimes

This role will support all facets of liquidity and economic capital risk management. You will

You have

  • 5-10 years of experience in the life insurance industry
  • Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or other quantitative discipline preferred
  • CFA charter holder and FSA strongly preferred
  • Experience with economic capital regimes a plus but not required
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven communication, presentation, and relationship building skills

Reporting relationship

As our Market Risk Manager, you will report to the Head of Market Risk Management, who, in turn, reports to the Chief Risk Officer.

Location

Hybrid role - 3 days in the Guardian Hudson Yards office, 2 days WFH.

Salary Range:

$148,940.00 - $244,685.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
