Position Overview

We are looking for a Narrative Designer to join our growing team and help craft Echtra’s next AAA PC and Console ARPG. As the Narrative Designer you will participate in crafting the game’s story through compelling narratives, immersive missions, and engaging dialogue that bring depth and complexity to the game world while captivating players and enhancing their experience. Building upon a rich existing franchise universe, the Narrative Designer will work with cross-disciplinary teams to weave intricate stories and lore into every facet of the game.

Key Roles And Responsibilities

• Adapt the narrative script and create lore, missions, dialogue, and other narrative elements that enhance the game's depth and immerse players in the game world.
• Partner with the Story and Design teams to ensure a cohesive integration of narrative elements within the gameplay experience.
• Align with licensors to deliver content that respects and builds on a franchise while creating a new, unique experience.
• Collaborate with the Product team to map narrative beats to live service and content delivery schedules.
• Collaborate with the Story team to write item/prop descriptions, flavor text, and mission text and objectives.
  
  

Desired Skills And Experience

• 5+ years video game writing experience.
• Experience writing fiction in the science fiction genre.
• High level of flexibility with regard to change in direction or rewrites.
• Efficient organization and communication skills and ability to prioritize and execute ideas within a schedule.
• Strong research skills and extraordinary attention to detail.
• In-depth knowledge of industry trends in interactive storytelling.
• Candidates should be prepared to provide at least 2 writing samples or a link to your online writing portfolio.

• Experience with and passion for ARPG and looter shooter style games.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $69,000 and $103,000 per year.

However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
