Job Description

The Senior Network Test Engineer plays a key role to ensuring that any device, application and/or change to the network delivers an outstanding customer experience. You establish the test strategy to lead business and product verification testing of end-to-end solutions prior to deployment; functional and integration testing of complete product lifecycles; and ensure that applications are compatible within the enterprise eco-system and fixed networks applications, without degrading the customer experience of other devices on the network. The Senior Network Test Engineer uses deep expertise in planning, designing, automating and conducting testing across a wide range of network and software technologies. You collaborate and partner with internal technical teams and external suppliers/partners, to ensure testing is completed according to plan, and all new and existing Telstra products, systems, solutions, platforms, etc. and networks perform to the highest standard.
Must have:
  • Collaboratively design, build and maintain applications/tools to manage and expose domain resources.
  • Driving the test and verification stages of technology capability for timeliness and aligning to program schedule.
  • Authentically engage with a multi-stakeholder landscape to translate customer needs into leading-edge software application products, services or systems that meet Telstra’s time, cost, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and key stakeholders, seeking support, direction and buy-in to gather deep insights about the challenges and opportunities of our software application technologies and platforms.
  • Significantly contribute to continuous improvement initiatives of our systems and processes, to help define ‘best practice’ corporate testing standards and drive improved outcomes.
  • Focus on continuing professional learning and development related to technology and methodology that benefits the individual as well as effectiveness in the role.
  • Work using Agile methodologies in line with Telstra’s strategic direction for increasing efficiency and maximising workforce utility.
  • Collaborate with Architects, Developers, solutions team, and other key stakeholders and gather deep insights about the challenges and opportunities of our technologies, platforms and Inventories.
  • Continuous improvement initiatives of our systems and processes, to help define ‘best practice’ corporate testing standards and drive improved outcomes.
  • Establish and enforce test strategy and planning for end-to-end testing.
  • Adoption of test automation framework to create, plan and manage test execution and reporting.
  • Proactive defect management and triaging to quantify impact to the business and customer experience.
  • Establishing testing stand-up calls to track the progress and drive the expected outcomes on time.
  • Proactive identification of RISK, ISSUE and Impediments related to testing or project and discuss the mitigation plans/appropriate escalations.
Good to have:
  • Experience in Network Inventory systems, Network Orchestration systems, Network Management tools and systems
  • Scripting skills in Python, Java or other programming language.
  • Experience in Selenium for UI automation
  • Experience working with GenAI / ML applications or capabilities.
  • Knowledge of Generic APIs and functionalities
  • Knowledge of TMF and role different API supported

The measurable deliverables and outcomes of this role will be the design and delivery of quality Engineering solutions for Telstra’s Strategic Inventory and autonomous network.

  • Define and Implement CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Bamboo, GIT (BitBucket), CodePipeline, etc.
  • Experience with Telstra’s New Ways of Working methodology, practices, and mindset:
  • Agile, DevOps, Lean, Human Centred Design
  • Jira, Confluence
  • Setting up and manage testing life cycle using JIRA / Zephyr tools
  • JIRA Dashboard setup and reporting Realtime status of test results
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills that can adapt to different teams, individuals, and personality types as well as able to author, review and evaluate technical and non-technical documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering/ Computer Science / Information Technology / Telecommunications

Highly desirable skills:
