Mergermarket is seeking a motivated and experienced reporter for its M&A team. The role involves writing market-moving scoops and in-depth executive interviews for both listed and private enterprises. Key responsibilities include reviewing, editing, and ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and quality of news and analysis stories, with a focus on complex edits and time-sensitive market intelligence. The candidate will also ensure the accuracy of information gathered by reporters and that published content adheres to coverage criteria and is relevant to readers. The role demands extensive on-the-job learning and self-motivation, requiring the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a global team of reporters and analysts across different time zones.

The Role
Mergermarket is looking for a motivated, experienced reporter to join the M&A team to write market-moving scoops and in-depth executive interviews for both listed and private enterprises.
Candidates with an established source network is preferred.
Key Responsibilities :
- Review, edit, and ensure the accuracy, clarity, and quality of news and analysis stories, with a focus on long-form complex edits, and time sensitive market intelligence.
- Ensure the accuracy of information gathered by reporters, ensuring all published content adheres to IONA’s’ coverage criteria and is relevant to our readers.
- The role involves extensive on-the-job learning and candidates must be self-motivated.
- Work independently and in collaboration with a wide team of reporters and analysts across regions.
Skills Requirements :
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
- A passion for journalism and editing.
- Experience in reporting and editing for financial news services, newspapers or online publications.
- A postgraduate degree or diploma in journalism would be preferred.
- Research editors/copy editors at business intelligence-focused organizations, news publications/magazines, credit agencies or city editors who have experience in covering market intelligence can also apply.
- The candidate will need to work across different time zones when necessary.
