This role is for a Principal Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with expertise in automation, Infrastructure as Code, and Azure cloud design. The successful candidate will lead the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of cloud platforms, designing automation frameworks using Terraform and modern CI/CD. Responsibilities include implementing self-healing mechanisms, championing observability with DataDog, eliminating toil, and ensuring robust security. The role involves providing Level-3 support, automating maintenance tasks, and mentoring SRE teams, requiring strong Azure, PowerShell, and networking skills.
Must have:
  • Lead design and implementation of automation frameworks for infrastructure and application delivery.
  • Expertise in Terraform for infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with Windows network/system administration including Active Directory Domain Services, Remote Desktop Services, IIS.
  • Solid software engineering mindset and background.
  • Experience with self-healing architectures and designing fault-tolerant systems.
  • Extensive experience in observability and monitoring, preferably with DataDog.
  • Skilled in secret management and identity/access management in cloud environments.
  • Deep understanding of Azure Cloud services and certified as an Azure Solutions Architect.
  • Experience in PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Ability to provide on-call support outside of regular working hours.
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering framework.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Azure Public Cloud IaaS resources (Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts, Key Vaults, Load balancers, VNET, Log Analytics, BLOB Storage, Entra ID).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor sysadmins and engineers.
  • Success in identifying and eliminating toil at scale.

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US

We are seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with expertise in automation, Infrastructure as Code, and Azure cloud design. In this role, you will shape the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our cloud platforms, leading by example in designing frameworks, eliminating toil, and mentoring others. You will work closely with SRE, DevOps and security teams to drive best practices across automation, observability, CI/CD, and identity and access management

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Lead the design and implementation of automation frameworks for infrastructure and application delivery, using Terraform and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Define and evolve pipelines.
  • Architect and implement self healing mechanisms that allow systems to automatically detect, remediate, and recover from failures without human intervention.
  • Champion observability practices by building reliable monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions, with a preference for DataDog.
  • Eliminate toil through proactive automation, process improvement, and knowledge sharing.
  • Drive a zero-tolerance approach to vulnerabilities, ensuring infrastructure and pipelines are secured by design and continuously monitored for weaknesses.
  • Guide secret management and IAM strategy, ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant access to cloud resources.
  • Identify automation candidates by managing support cases within the incident management process, taking ownership of client-reported issues and providing up to Level-3 support to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve problems with the Client Reporting Platform.
  • Automate regular maintenance and upgrade work such as Windows Server patching, infrastructure and application upgrades, license management, service and system restart.
  • Follow guiding principle of self service enablement first for service requests for internal and external clients such as environment refreshes, data migrations, deploying Virtual Machine resources and installing whitelisted software.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for engineering and operations teams, teaching sysadmins and engineers how to extend and maintain automation frameworks.
  • Provide technical mentorship across the SRE team and partner functions.
  • Collaborate with product and platform stakeholders to ensure reliability, security, and resilience are baked into design decisions.
  • Provide on-call support outside of regular working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WHAT WE VALUE

  • 5–7+ years of hands-on experience in automation, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD engineering, demonstrated through project delivery, tooling implementation, and measurable improvements in deployment or operational efficiency.
  • Expertise in Terraform for infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with Windows network/system administration including Active Directory Domain Services (DNS, DFS, GPO), Remote Desktop Services, IIS (incl. SSL Certificates).
  • Solid software engineering mindset and background.
  • Experience with self healing architectures and designing fault tolerant systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of core networking principles such as IP addressing, routing, VPNs and layer 3 and 7 of the OSI model.
  • Extensive experience in observability and monitoring, preferably with DataDog
  • Skilled in secret management and identity/access management in cloud environments.
  • Deep understanding of Azure Cloud services and certified as an Azure Solutions Architect.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor sysadmins and engineers, enabling them to adopt automation-first approaches.
  • Success of identifying and eliminating toil at scale.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cloud security practices and ability to enforce zero-tolerance for vulnerabilities in infrastructure and pipelines.
  • Experience in PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Familiarity of Site Reliability Engineering framework

Experience of Administering Microsoft Azure Public Cloud IaaS resources and have experience with some or all of the following:

  • Virtual Machines
  • Storage Accounts
  • Key Vaults
  • Load balancers
  • VNET, subnets, NICs and route tables
  • Public IP addressing
  • Monitor
  • Log Analytics
  • BLOB Storage
  • Entra ID
