The Product Performance Engineer ensures reliability, performance, and compliance of engine components and emissions through rigorous testing, inspection, and analysis. This role involves developing test procedures, conducting inspections, analyzing data, and collaborating with design and manufacturing teams to improve component quality and durability.
Must have:
  • Work with global teams to develop standard workflow of component testing and afterwards inspection.
  • Work with global design and testing teams to develop and execute test plans for engine components.
  • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections using precision measurement tools.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Work with global testing and emission compliance teams to develop and execute emission test plans.
  • Operate and lead maintenance of engine emission measurement equipment.
  • Ensure engine emission test compliance with global environmental standards.
  • Analyze test data to identify trends, failures, and areas for improvement.
  • Follow company standards and prepare detailed reports, including findings, root cause analysis, and recommendations.
  • Document inspection results and maintain records for traceability and audits.
  • Work with global teams to refine component specifications based on test results.
  • Support failure investigations for R&D projects.
  • Ensure all testing and inspection activities adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements in testing methodologies and inspection technologies.

Reports To: Senior Manager, Rig Operations – Power System Asia

Job Summary

The Product Performance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and compliance of engine components and emission through rigorous testing, inspection, and analysis. This role involves developing test procedures, conducting inspections, analyzing data, and collaborating with design and manufacturing teams to improve component quality and durability.

Key Responsibilities

Component Testing & Inspection

  • Work with global teams to develop standard workflow of component testing and afterwards inspection
  • Work with global design and testing teams to develop and execute test plans for engine components (e.g., pistons, valves, turbochargers, fuel systems, bearings) to validate performance, durability, and safety.
  • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections using precision measurement tools (CMM, micrometers, optical comparators).
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards

Engine Emission Performance Test

  • Work with global testing and emission compliance teams to develop and execute emission test plans to validate engine emission performance.
  • Operate and lead maintenance of engine emission measurement equipment (e.g., exhaust gas analyzer, smoker meter, PM measurement equipment, SCR…).
  • Ensure engine emission test compliance with global environmental standards (CN NRMM, CN Marine, EPA, EU, NEA…).

Testing Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze test data to identify trends, failures, and areas for improvement.
  • Follow company standards and prepare detailed reports, including findings, root cause analysis, and recommendations.
  • Document inspection results and maintain records for traceability and audits.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

  • Work with global teams to refine component specifications based on test results.
  • Support failure investigations for R&D projects.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all testing and inspection activities adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements in testing methodologies and inspection technologies.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, IC Engine Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • English skill: CET 6, good oral and written skills
  • 5+ years of experience in engine component testing, inspection, quality assurance, engine emissions, aftertreatment systems, or combustion engineering (automotive, aerospace, or heavy machinery industries preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with component test equipment, emission testing equipment, and metrology tools.
  • Good team spirit
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
