We are seeking a Product Risk & Controls Operations Manager to join our First Line of Defense Risk team supporting our Payment Solutions product team at PayPal. The ideal candidate has experience with payment processing, issue management, control mapping, risk assessment and network compliance. This role involves identifying issues, recommending best practices, leading projects, analyzing business trends, and contributing to process improvements for risk management strategies within the organization.
Must have:
  • Identify issues and recommend best practices for risk management within the organization.
  • Lead functional projects and programs that enhance risk assessment and mitigation efforts.
  • Collaborate with teams to analyze business trends and their implications for risk management.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance the effectiveness of risk management strategies.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members in executing risk management initiatives.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a risk management or compliance role within the payment processing or financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of payments industry, network compliance payment processing regulations and electronic payment flows (card, alternative, cross-border).
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective risk/issue management strategies and control measures.

  • Drive timely resolution of product-related payment issues by managing escalations and cross-functional communication.
  • Optimize the customer experience, minimize risk, and maintain compliance throughout the payment’s ecosystem.
  • Categorize, prioritize, and escalate product issues based on their impact, urgency, and risk.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute effective control measures and issue mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards related to payment processing and network compliance.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of issue management and associated control, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to proactively address potential issues.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members on Issue management best practices and compliance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Drive timely resolution of product-related payment issues by managing escalations and cross-functional communication; optimize the customer experience, minimize risk, and maintain compliance throughout the payment’s ecosystem.
  • Categorize, prioritize, and escalate product issues based on their impact, urgency, and risk.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute effective control measures and issue mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards related to payment processing and network compliance.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of issue management and associated control, providing regular updates to senior management.

  • Strong knowledge of payments industry, network compliance payment processing regulations and electronic payment flows (card, alternative, cross-border)
